We live in an era where most of everyday life is made easy by inventions and innovations. Majority of the inventions are done by integration of different technologies which allows the creation of complex applications to become a reality, thus emphasizing its importance. Such integration could do revolutionary changes in every aspect and helps reduce waste, times, costs, allows producing a broader range of products. This highlights the importance of the powerful tools and concepts of Mechanical engineering which when applied effectively can revolutionize the face of any system.

My grandfather and father are people of high business acumen who were the managing directors of public and private limited companies engaged in spinning and solvent extraction industry. Naturally growing up in such environment, I have developed a keen interest in pursuing my education on these lines, which will prepare me in taking over the industries.
Fascinating subjects like Operation Research, Production control, Industrial statistics and quality control, Project management, Supply chain management compelled me to seek extended knowledge of other subjects too and select industrial engineering as my area of graduate study. These subjects will not only enhance my learning but also reflect in functioning of the industry after I take over it and will also help me analyze every aspect of the industry when I want to expand it over diversified areas .
The ongoing researches which are being conducted in the University Of South Florida by renowned professor Dr. Tapas K Das whose interests are in Pandemic Mitigation, Healthcare Engineering, Electric Power Systems & Policy have had a great impact in me to decide upon this particular University. USF is one of 40 public research universities nationwide with very high research activity that is designated as community engaged by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Thus, Mechanical engineering was a direct consequence of my convictions. The approach towards this project shows interdisciplinary learning between various engineering fields. First thing to start is designing of table which involves precise dimensions and this involves mechanical engineering to implement material modeling. Secondly, the design also involves kient sensor which needs to be embedded with the simulator and programmed through assembly language, requires electrical engineering in it. Finally all the functionality and image processing results are programmed using JAVA coding which are exclusively done by computer engineering. This shows the importance of Interdisciplinary studies.
Mechanical Engineering is a field that requires constant updating. With the advent of new technology, growing fields, and an unpredictable global market, it takes a lot of divisive planning in order to "engineer" a career path for myself that is suitable for any number of growing fields. I plan on acquiring my master's degree in mechanical engineering next semester, so a career plan is what I need. Choosing the right career takes a lot of careful timing, and it takes a lot of careful and precise plans in order to create a suitable job prospect. I think that a career in computer manufacturing and hardware is probably the best choice for me. Since computer hardware is constantly evolving, it's something that you can count on to stay busy.
In my undergraduate curriculum I have developed a very strong fundamental knowledge in subjects like Strength of materials, Fluid mechanics, Heat and Mass Transfer, Manufacturing Process, Automotive engineering, Gas dynamics, Energy conversion and Mechatronics. I have secured First Class with Distinction in Mechanical Engineering with a CGPA of 9.00 and stood among top 10% students in Mechanical Engineering Department. Subjects such as I.C Engines, Theory of Machines, Machine Design and Automotive Engineering gave me a greater insight into the vast and intense field of Automotive
I have also got the chance to get a lot of insight into the processes of casting and welding. In my final year I took Production Planning and Control & Maintenance Engineering as my elective so that I could get initiated into the field. I got to know the basic operations of different mechanical systems of the automobile like the I.C. engine, brakes, clutches, powertrain, transmission and differentials. A Master’s degree would allow me to delve deeper into individual aspects of Industrial Engineering by studying and examining them in greater detail and gain practical experience by way of relevant internships. Hence Master’s in Industrial Engineering became an obvious necessity.
Starting from the first steam engine, Aeolipile to today’s Mars rover, the transcendental pervasion of mechanical engineering has shaped the life on this planet as we know it today. This progress seems never ending as the new technologies are engendering ever new complex challenges. Therefore, merging of fundamental research with real world applications is demanding now more than ever. As a student of Mechanical Engineering, I am well aware of these facts and have decided to pursue an active career in cutting edge research. I am strongly motivated to undertake graduate studies in order to pursue an MS in Mechanical Engineering, which, I believe, will prepare me for my further study at the doctoral level.
Mechanical Engineering has not only given us inventions such as the car that have improved our lives but also captured the imagination of the world through space travel and the Apollo missions. To achieve breakthrough in technology, we will always need great mentors, state-of-art infrastructure and real motivation and Michigan Technological University is one of them. My four year academic curriculum in Mechanical Engineering at Pune University has offered me the perfect blend of theoretical subjects and laboratory work. I am Nileshkumar Luhar. Discovering and understanding how certain mechanical products work have attracted my attention for the longest time. I have been watching TV show named How It’s Made on the Discovery Channel since last six years. Seeing the manner in which the machineries and cars are built and the various processes involved instilled desire in me to be part of the whole process. I felt that Engineering would be the area, which would give me the opportunity to learn and explore how the fundamentals of science are applied to create technology for practical and real purposes. This coupled with a natural flair for science and mathematics motivated me to take up Mechanical Engineering in University.
This is a crucial time for me to reflect on the various roads my career could take, as I am about to complete my undergraduate education in a few months. I would spend hours together experimenting and analyzing various mechanics around me like the ball bearings in my bicycle & roller skates and would be fascinated by my spring loaded toy cars. During my higher secondary schooling, I showed special interest in mathematics and physical sciences and in order to supplement the education that I received in school, I became a habitual reader of science magazines and books. As a direct consequence of this, I came to know about the latest developments in the field of science and engineering, especially aerospace and manufacturing engineering as it deeply interested me and I was naturally inclined to like the subject.
