Statement of Purpose
Purpose of study:
In this dynamic world of automotive technology, where every other day sees a spate of new concepts and innovation emerging, I want to stay on fast track. It is my strong perception that a Basic undergraduate education is inadequate for securing in-depth knowledge of a particular field. Master’s degree at your university would not only provide me subject matter proficiency but also thorough research oriented study would help me lay substance for gratification of my dream of reaching the pinnacle in Automotive Engineering.
I have comprehended from my undergraduate studies and work experience as a Product Engineer Trainee that every component that goes into an automobile is susceptible to improvement. Ideas, stretching from simple to the most intricate are ultimately intended to give the vehicle an edge in its aesthetics, performance, ergonomics and drivability. So, an automotive engineer cannot afford to be short of ideas. This inevitability leads to a continuous learning process and adds to the already mammoth potential for innovation that exists in this field. This is what intrigues me and at the same

I heard that phrase, from my Dad, so many times when I was a child. When I was younger I loved taking things apart to see how they worked, I loved making things with my hands and exploring every toy I got for my birthday. I would get lego sets for Christmas and be done building them in half an hour, without the instructions. In middle and elementary school, I would do origami in class to help me concentrate, and in high school I started taking autos because I love learning hands on. Taking automotive tech led me to realize my love for cars. I want to do anything with cars, but after doing a little research I realized just becoming an automotive tech wouldn’t be the best career path. I learned about University of Illinois’ world-renowned engineering programs and realized if I got a degree in mechanical engineering I
This theory is intriguing and I believe that with a finger in every pie around the world, Mechanical Engineering is an obligatory study for the visionaries. My quest for knowledge ended in Chennai where SRM University’s unparalleled curriculum provides a detailed introduction of the elaborateness of the subject, exposing us to a variety of fields such as Fluid Dynamics, Gas Dynamics and Space Propulsion, Materials Technology and Computer Aided Manufacturing. Laboratory assignments and presentations intensified schoolroom education, implementing conceptual learning and putting to practice founding principles, thus enhancing my understanding. Active and energetic, I was always in the driver’s seat for any exercise our group produced. In fact, in the first year, a faculty member recognized my academic competence and encouraged me to keep advancing ahead towards
I am seeking a professional field in Automotive Electronics Engineer who consistently applies a variety of skills and disciplines and accurately complete a wide selection of jobs. Skilled in mechanical automotive, automotive electric systems, automotive electronics systems and hybrid vehicles. Excellent communicator and team leader who works effectively with all levels of employees in cross- functional teams.
I lived in a village, during my childhood which is very far from the airport and I used to see the aircrafts which flew few miles above in the sky. By hearing the sound of an airplane, my eyes were in search to locate it, in the sky. I and my friends ran our guts out until we can have the last glance of the aircraft. My passion & Interest have grown up with me. Finally my dream came true. The complete Mechanism & Design which helped the aircraft to fly in to its natural environment fascinated me to pursue an Aeronautical engineering. Today I am working as a Research analyst at Viman Aviation, a global aviation aftermarket spares and resource management company.
As a mechanical engineering student with an acute interest in the industrial work environment, I have understood the principles of mechanical engineering those are applicable to most of the machines, tools and processes which naturally widens my scope of learning and research. This has raised the interest in me to explore the option of pursuing my masters in mechanical engineering from your prestigious university which would not only help in increasing my knowledge but also prepare me in the best possible way to attain my ambitions. I was introduced to machines from a very early age when I used to accompany my father to his factory. I learnt about steam turbine, broilers, compressing machines, lathe machines, steam turbines and lube blending plant
During my childhood, I was surprised to see an object flying in air. Later, I had tried to fly in air, by jumping from heights, but I couldn’t. This situation made me find the reason for my failure that we can move through water without boats by swimming and we can move on land without automobiles by walking. But I come to know that we cannot fly in air without machines. This thought inspired me most and made me curious in studying in the fields of aeronautical and aerospace, which results me to take the profession of aeronautical engineer.
These are the words of John Dewey, which have led an everlasting impression on my mind. It relates to the idea of lifelong learning, and the knowledge that education is much more than what lies within the curriculum. Whenever I pause by to reflect on my ken of knowledge, I feel that how little I have learnt and that an enormous, unknown and fascinating wealth of knowledge lies before me, yet to be explored. Education is like an edifice based on strong rudiments and strengthened by the fundamentals and practical skills acquired during one’s lifetime. So my main goal is to design the next generation innovations in field rather than being just a user of existing technologies and findings. So I intend to pursue Master of Science degree in “Automotive software Engineering” at your university as the first step towards obtaining a PHD.
I have also got the chance to get a lot of insight into the processes of casting and welding. In my final year I took Production Planning and Control & Maintenance Engineering as my elective so that I could get initiated into the field. I got to know the basic operations of different mechanical systems of the automobile like the I.C. engine, brakes, clutches, powertrain, transmission and differentials. A Master’s degree would allow me to delve deeper into individual aspects of Industrial Engineering by studying and examining them in greater detail and gain practical experience by way of relevant internships. Hence Master’s in Industrial Engineering became an obvious necessity.
Primarily, course has designed to provide a strong foundation across the breadth of automotive engineering and sufficient flexibility so that the degree is tailored to my background and career objectives. Secondarily, accessibility of the state-of-art laboratories under supervision of range of notable faculty namely, Prof. xyz, Prof. xyz and Prof. xyz and their work in respective fields are commendable. Lastly, it would be once in life time opportunity to study in beautiful campus and the city Southfield accompanied by culturally diverse
An exploration into IC engines in my sophomore year, helped me secure an internship at Ashok Leyland R&D center. This gave me an industrial insight into engine assembly techniques, sensor systems and had a hands on opportunity to install an EGR and Turbocharger module. I was awed by the interplay of various minute components in an IC engine coming together to work in unison. Watching how mechanical
Starting from the first steam engine, Aeolipile to today’s Mars rover, the transcendental pervasion of mechanical engineering has shaped the life on this planet as we know it today. This progress seems never ending as the new technologies are engendering ever new complex challenges. Therefore, merging of fundamental research with real world applications is demanding now more than ever. As a student of Mechanical Engineering, I am well aware of these facts and have decided to pursue an active career in cutting edge research. I am strongly motivated to undertake graduate studies in order to pursue an MS in Mechanical Engineering, which, I believe, will prepare me for my further study at the doctoral level.
The excellent undergraduate program at MREC has not only provided me with strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, but also helped me widen my horizons in the various different fields. During my under graduation I was introduced to many subjects where I found my interest in courses such as engineering mechanics, production technology ,material science and laboratory subjects always have a major impact on my academic growth. I learned CAD, PRO-e, and C-LANGUAGE software’s. I completed my under graduation with
I was born in a family of sociologist, economist, zoologist and mathematician as they are respectively my mother, uncle, aunt and grandfather. Amid these intellectuals, my uncle, a mechanical engineer is the most renowned. A Fulbright scholar and pioneer of “Renewable Energy Research” in Nepal, growing up he was my role model; I was his favorite kid among others too. My uncle once said “We engineers are the problem solvers and our service is commensurate to the number of people we solve the problems for.” His altruism was compelling and I have been inspired eversince. Having had introduced to Mechanical Engineering by him, it became a motivation for me to ensure it with machines and vehicles. I was fascinated on how a machine with so many components could be arranged with such a perfect sync to produce a desired result. Thus, my determination, strong academic forte in mathematics and physics, my curiosity towards learning about machines and the desire to emulate my role model was the reason I singled out Mechanical engineering for my under-graduate study.

I am in pursuit of a life where the education I choose lets me explore the wealth of knowledge and wisdom. I strongly recognize that manufacturing engineering is the domain where my purpose and passion mingle. It is my earnest belief that the education in manufacturing engineering that I have received until now has helped me to grasp the fundamental principles of the subject. This knowledge, when coupled with dedicated master’s study would be the ideal preparation for a career in applied research or academics in the manufacturing industry, a vast field of science from developing new materials to manufacture an aircraft. After giving a visit to an Aero India Show last year in Bangalore has, developed a curiosity in me to know the manufacturing world of an aerospace industry. It is for this reason that I wish to pursue a Masters course in Aerospace Engineering in the “Aerospace Structures and Materials track” from Delft University of Technology.
