Statement of Purpose Jitendra Jain “Did I win? Did I lose? Those are the wrong questions. The correct question is: Did I make my best effort?” If so, he says, “You may be outscored but you will never lose.” This quote from Carol Dweck (Professor of Psychology at Stanford University) has inspired me the way I go about in my life. The belief in continuous learning with the optimistic approach towards hard work, learning and doggedness has always been my motivation. In this way, I can effectively utilize my technical & analytical skills and engineering concepts to solve problems of persistent congestion and deficit connectivity. The interdisciplinary and challenging program of Transportation engineering at Texas A&M University will supplement my aim of exhaustive education. If given a chance, I would like to work under the expertise of Dr. Luca Quadrifoglio whose work in this field has been very inspiring. His projects especially on “Innovative Strategy for Paratransit Services” substantiate the role of paratransits and provide an approach to fathom the impending first/last mile problem. Moreover, the kind of atmosphere and harmony among the students supported by an extensive network of notable alumni has prompted me to apply for a master’s program at the university. I believe with my commitment and passion, I would be able to embrace the demands of the program.
