Reflective Self-Analysis Essay My first semester as an exchange student, I decided to take a composition 1 class to improve my English skills. Before I came to America, I thought I was advanced in English and I was so confident to speak it. I wasn’t afraid to take this class because of my confidence to get good grades, although I never had written any essays in English ever in my life. On the first day of class, my confidence was crumbled and I could feel that my English skills were weak when I first received my graded essay. I felt a great gap fixed between natives English speakers and abroad students. But at the same time, I thought positively about this class because it could give me a chance to cultivate my ability in English. I believe that the purpose of this composition class is to eliminate elementary essay skills and focus on the topic,the development , the organization, and the proper use of MLA style. Through the four times that I have written English essays, I have developed those skills. I was also able to find my strengths and weaknesses in my essays through a reflective self analysis. I’ve noticed that my strengths are to focus on the topic, being organized, and having well development. My weaknesses are diction/syntax, using proper MLA format, and making citations on an essay. From my first days at The College of Wooster, I can tell that I will be aptly prepared to have a successful future both during college and beyond. I’ll immediately be challenged and engaged by the First Year Seminar which will provide me with opportunities to make friends, engage in a topic of interest, and further develop my writing skills. In addition, this seminar will prepare me for college success.
This is the end of my 8-week course for English 112 Writing & Research in Disciplines. Over the course of the class, I have grown and learned more than I actually thought possible about writing but there is still room for improvement. I came into this course, not a strong writer it’s not really my strong point and never has been. Although this course has taught me some various methods of writing a paper. For example, the last assignment where the paper had to be written in CSE format. It was difficult at first because I used to only writing in MLA or APA format.
This is a reflective essay based on a event which took place in a hospital setting. The aim of this essay is to explore how members of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) worked together and communicate with each other to achieve the best patients outcome.
This writing activity is a great way for me to think beyond what I thought about something before. I feel that it was a way to keep an open mind at different issues and to know what’s right and wrong with the issue. It was difficult to believe something that I doubt. It was hard for me to think about what is so great about a specific assertion and also how can I show that I believe it with all my heart. It was also hard to give details about an assertion that I doubt. It is easy to write about something that you doubt because you know a great amount of information about it, but when you have to write in a way to believe in it, it is hard to do so because you just never thought about believing in it. My journey to become a Counselling Psychologist began in 2008 when as a Life Coach; I had a self referral who suffered from anxiety over his forthcoming exams in his second year at university. I started collaboratively setting goals to manage his workload and set timetable into manageable chunks through asking him challenging questions so that e can start to think for himself. He had plenty of resources namely his family, time, books but he just would not settle into coaching which left me feeling I was inadequate as a Life Coach and started to doubt whether he could manage at all. As a life Coach I didn’t have a supervisor so had no one to maul this situation over with.

Although I do not have extensive experience with young children during my B.S.W. studies, I developed the knowledge and skills needed to conduct through interview with clients. I learned how to do assessments on clients and evaluating them properly. I have conducted interventions on clients while recording documentation and reporting the information properly. I have gained the strengths to advocate services for clients. I have learned how to access and deliver the best approaches to further help clients receive services based upon their situations. Alcoholism and the addiction to any drug destroy lives, families and financial security. Growing up with an alcoholic as a parent not only tore my family apart to the point of divorce in 2013; but also left me as a financial insecure college student and a supporter for my younger sister through the years to come. Faced with the sudden tasks of paying for myself and raising my sister, I struggled to through the semesters trying to pay rent and be at home. Academically, I was disappointed in myself and knew I needed to make a change. Through many appointments through the success center, I became proactive to take control of the difficult situation I was in. People gain new information everyday they spend on Earth, whether they are aware or not. Students especially, are exposed to new information and ideas daily. What and how students learn varies due to the different subjects requiring a different approach as you tackle those subjects. For example math and chemistry require one to do more written and hands on practice while history and sociology calls for more retainment of materials in the course study. One subject demands something different which makes it stand out is Writing. For Writing you have to use a blend of materials. For examples: personal experiences, general knowledge on topics, practice, and effective research just to name the general few. During this first semester of college Writing 101 has been the class that require the most work from me. Not saying it was hard, which it was not at all. Throughout college you are required to compose many papers for various subjects and with Writing 101 it prepares you for the possible written assignments expected throughout one’s college career. One paper that I enjoyed the most would have to be the exploration and argumentative because it allowed me to discus a topic that I really enjoyed.
When I was a child, writing was one of my favorite hobbies, so I used to spend many hours to write in my daily journals. However, when I came to America, I felt more difficult to write and express my thoughts in English because I did not know much vocabularies and lacking grammatical knowledge. Then, I decided to go back to school to improve my writing skills because I recognize the significant of writing in my everyday lives. As a college student, my writing are about different types of class assignments such as reflections, journals, essays, and research papers. As a teacher aide in the preschool classroom, and most of my writings are reports, observation, notes, and curriculum planning. At the beginning of the Academic Writing Seminar (AWS 100) when I wrote my first essay assignment, and I found out that writing essays in English was not easy. At the end of the semester, I realize I have learned valuable lessons while working seriously to write assignments from the AWS 100, so this class will a step with deep preparation to help me successful in writing research papers skills at Pacific Oaks College. In this essay, I will also introduce the “best” of my writing, and share my experiences on the process of creating this portfolio.
I remember being extremely nervous to begin graduate school, but I was especially anxious about taking PC700, Communication and Intro to Scholarly Writing. It had been a long time since I had written any sort of formal paper, so I was uncertain how I would accomplish my goals. I knew that since I had not written recently, I would need to be well organized and I would need to read all the recommended readings in addition to the required readings. I settled into the fact that this was going to be a difficult semester and began to work while hoping for the best.
Whilst on clinical placement, a male resident with dementia and I were sitting in his room within the nursing home for which he resided for the past two years. The resident was becoming anxious about his family, stating that they lived far away and he missed them. He showed me a card from one of his daughters she had sent for his birthday. As I was reading what she had written I became overwhelmed with empathetic emotion and wanted to cry due to her emotive words.
Before I became a student at BCCC I was attending CCBC the college was awesome my field of study was Nursing. I left the college because I needed to be close to my grandmother because she had some illnesses going at the time. My main focus when I attended BCCC was to get all of my pre-requisites done so I could attend the Nursing Program. When I started classes in fall 2011 I started during well, but I fell short in some of the classes because of appointments I had to attend with my grandmother. Fall 2011 I received an F in English 200 and a D in Math 107. I knew this would affect my GPA. So I said to myself, maybe I should take a break and I had a long talk with my grandmother. She told me to make sure I focus on school and she will be fine. So spring
When I am not working at my grocery store, I coach a high school bowling team. I have been bowling for many years and coaching for two. Since I took over the team, we have won back-to- back state championships. However, with any sport comes strategic thinking between the head coach and his assistants. Before every match, I and my assistant coach have to create a line-up that obtains stressful strategic thinking. The way bowling matches work is that we have a team of six bowlers and each bowler is matched up against their opponent on the other team. If that person wins their game, they get a point. The most points at the end of the match wins the match. So, when writing my lineup, I have to determine which players to match up to the other team’s players. I could put my strongest player against their strongest player and maybe get a point, or I can put my strongest player against their weakest players and guarantee a point. Also, I could mix up my lineup and place the bowlers in any lineup.
During the course of the quarter, I feel that I have progressed somewhat. I've gained a lot of knowledge on rhetorical strategies and how to present arguments effectively. In the writings I have written, I feel that each writing works towards meeting the course goals. Logos, ethos, and pathos were strategies and ideas we were introduced to (if not already in the past) and were built upon throughout the quarter. The knowledge gained over the course of the quarter weren't only those three types of appeals. Rhetorical strategies like proposals helped reinforce the course and using rhetorical analysis in different situations have become easier throughout the quarter.
