Purpose: I hope to provide possible ways to improve the services provided to aid the parking issues that are found on the Florida International University. The issue of parking at Florida International University is the lack of being able to find parking at most given times. There are a lot of times where I have arrived at Florida International University and have spent over 20 minutes driving in circles trying to find a parking spot. And I am not the only one. Martina Bretous writes in one of her article posts. “It always starts out the same way: a race to the elevator entrance at the sight of anyone entering the garage followed by a head popping out of a lowered car window yelling ‘Are you leaving? (Bretous)’” I would use this excerpt to …show more content…
Though students are not the only ones suffering from the parking issue. According to the FIUSM Editorial, “FIU’s status as a commuter school should mean the University has enough parking spaces available to fulfill the need of its community. But, it doesn’t. The University’s parking problem is not just a student problem, it’s affects the community as a whole (FIUSM Editorial).” To get this point across I plan to use a solution argument to be able to properly state the solutions to the parking problem Florida International University has provided, and show the flaws that the services have within them and ways that we could better than to actually make an impact on the commuting students parking experience. I decided on this purpose because many people already know Florida International University has a parking issue, as well as many universities around the country, but to be able to offer them alternatives to be able to help the problem seems to be the best way to go rather than just informing them of what they already know …show more content…
Although some progress has been made, the solutions Florida International University has implemented have not been successful in helping the parking problem.” The reason I choose this to be my thesis is because Florida International University has implemented programs, such as the carpool programs or mass transit services, but they are not effectively advertised or executed to the point where students feel motivated enough to want to participate in the services. Another of the services that I plan to talk about is the parking space locator. The parking space locator is beneficial, but it can be improved, for example, it only says how much space is taken up in a parking garage, given in percentages, but it does not show on which floors the free spots are located. Clemson has a similar system with the exact location though, “…students can grab their smartphones before they hop in their cars, home in on precious empty spots, and drive straight to the destination. That’s a far cry from the experience of circling blocks and lots for half an hour in search of a spot (Fliegler).” I feel that with that little bit of information could make the service much more
There is little space in the parking, so I'll find a new parking or start coming to campus by bus so that I am not late
Daily, thousands of students and faculty commute to this prestigious university. Unfortunately, insufficient parking at Texas A&M inconveniences many of us.
We decided to build a multi-story parking lot around the SAIT campus as there is less parking space for the students and it takes very long in the morning to find a parking space. So, the purpose of this project is to provide an idea to SAIT for building another parking lot for convenience of students. In order to do that we are going to perform Phase 1 and Phase 2.
There needs to be additional parking on campus made for visitors and also for students. There also needs to be additional parking meters added for students living off campus, who often have trouble finding a spot. The college is overpopulated, resulting in loads of backed up parking lots. Faculty already has reserved parking; however the limited amount of parking on campus is forcing students and visitors to park in reserved faculty lots. Parking is
The biggest problem, as well as most hindering to students at UNLV and the university’s academic reputation, is the fact that the lack of parking causes students to be late for their classes. Being late for class increases the chance of a student missing out on valuable information that could very well be on an upcoming exam, also increasing their chance of not being able to pass these exams. If being late to class is proven to bring down students’ GPAs why would administration not doing anything to help prevent this factor? “The issue is not necessarily that there are not enough parking spaces, it is
The City of Los Angeles is notorious for its space congestion: in most neighborhoods, simply finding an open parking spot is considered a luxury. To make matters worse, California vehicle code section 22500 (f) exacerbates Los Angeles congestion as it precludes vehicles from extending over any portion of a sidewalk or onto a street. This paper will draw attention to the fact that 22500 requires amendment, doing so would both reduce space congestion and ease vehicle accessibility.
Many students at Kansas State University have a problem with having to hunt for a parking spot every time they arrive on campus. Buying a permit every year does not guarantee you a parking spot; it is more of a hunting permit. It does not seem to be fair that the university keeps taking away parking spots. Some of these spots were taken away in order to better the university with a new water treatment plant, but as the number of enrolled students is on the rise, the number of open parking spots continues to exponentially fall. Another large complaint among KSU students is the price of parking. We are proposing Kansas State builds a new parking garage to take care of the parking problems.
I am the Law Students’ Society representative for the law school located at the PACI building on 955 Oliver Road in Thunder Bay, where our students are experiencing parking difficulties.
New students entering Western Michigan University are allowed to have a car on campus. With every new freshmen class entering each year, parking poses a problem. WMU is already limited in its parking on campus and since freshmen are allowed to have cars, the students are faced with the dilemma of having nowhere to park or parking quite far from their destination. There are parking problems all over the campus, creating backups in residence
As of 2013 there are about 2,500 parking spots currently available at the UCMerced parking lot; with the continued growth of students in the school, we need to be able to make sure supply meets demand with the parking spaces. UCMerced's student population is rapidly growing from 13.5 % from Fall of 2015 to 2016 (UCMerced). Due to the high demand the school needs to be able meet the necessary requirements for all these students; one of the biggest problems the school faces is that they aren’t able to meet the student’s transportation needs (The Merced Sun-Star). The lack of spaces causes students and staff to waste time looking for parking causing them to waste time. I plan on making a design on a mobile app to be able to solve this problem.
With the Southern Poly-Tech-Kennesaw State University merger, there has been a new influx of thousands of students. However, there hasn't been any push to expand on the already limited parking that is provided to Kennesaw students. If Kennesaw State built more parking spaces, the students could greatly benefit from it. With all the new money coming in from the new students bringing in millions of dollars of tuition we should be able to bear the cost, even if it’s not a big lot. Kennesaw State should be spending money to help the students, and this could affect thousands of students every day.
Have you ever considered taking the buses, not the car, to your destination? According to his essay “The Bus, a Modern Panacea,” Lester Detroit states that the VTA system offers a fundamental solution for not only the SJSU student but includes most people who commutes to school or work. He claims that cars have the negative side effects for the environment problems; furthermore, cars are the problem of both traffic congestion and wasting time and money. He insists that students should “drop their car culture and create a new bus culture.” Bus is the “cure-all solution” for students. As for students, I strongly disagree with Detroit’s point of view that VTA system is a suitable transportation for students to commute. It is important for students to realize that not a lot of people know how to transit, taking the bus is inconvenient, safety concern, and pollution.
Through the online research, I discovered how other churches have dealt with situations similar to ours. Learning what has worked for other churches has helped me to know whether or not their solution will be acceptable for our church. I found out where other churches visitor parking areas
More of the Library’s parcel and more of the tract of town land remaining with the golf course would be consumed for parking. The aim is have as little asphalt as possible while achieving design and use purposes.
Although their location is strategic, their parking space for the customer to park is insufficient.
