How I approached writing my Genre Analysis:
I approached my genre writing based on Writing in the Health Sciences guidelines for research papers. Since my chosen paper was a research paper, I looked for the sections in a research paper that included the abstract, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, and references. This helped me decide what needed to be in each section so I could elaborate on if it was included or was not.
How I found my sources:
I started out by going through articles on google scholar and found the one that made me most interested. I have known people that have smoked during pregnancy and what happened to their child so I wanted to see if children could potentially have asthma from their mom smoking.

Here I also stated if my paper had that convention and if they had any variation in a research paper regarding to Writing in the Health Sciences. This helped me write my paper because we were to describe each convention in our genre analysis so it gave me a start. It also helped me analyze the effectiveness of the genre which was step 4 in our paper. Here in step 4 I think was my most difficult part in the paper because after gaining your input on that you should not say “I believe” I understand why it sounds more confident. I will now write my ideas as such, but then when proofreading go back and delete it because it sounds better stating why x causes y.
What went well in my Genre Analysis:
After receiving your comment on my genre analysis paper, I noticed that I did have a lot of information in my paper. I went over the minimum word count because I felt that it was necessary because I wanted to incorporate the information from the study into my paper. What also went well in my paper was that I appropriately cited information in APA, which included in text citations and references. If I did these wrong, I wish you could tell me since from my understanding I did them right and want to do well on the test paper.
What did not go well in my Genre
There are a wide array of genres, including n Each genre has a specific goal and style of writing. The Smart Therapist: A Look to the Future of Smartphones and mHealth Technologies in Psychotherapy by Bonnie A. Clough and Leanne M. Casey falls into the professional genre. This article focuses on how smartphones can help mental health and what the future of the industry looks like. Many genres exist that hold the truth and main goal is to entertain or inform readers, all genres have four major characteristics: a specific rhetorical purpose, content, structure, and linguistic features.
The main focus of the Problem Solution essay is to analyze different topics related to the subject of “image” in Asian American studies. This essays aims to go more in depth about the problems that surround the subject of “image” and then creating a solution to these issues. In order to get to a solution one must first come up with a method that includes thinking of a topic that is closely related to the subject of image, present said topic to the professor, compose an outline for a rough draft and eventually a final draft. This process will ultimately allow the student to further evaluate and resolve other issue in Asian American studies. While the reader of the essay better understands the problems that writing can have, the writer also presents and realizes how “genre” can cause different recurrences within social interactions.
Women who smoke during pregnancy are 75% more likely to have children with asthma and 39% more likely of having children with wheezing. Research shows that smoking while pregnant can change the structure of a babies DNA, which weakens the immune system. Maternal smoking is more dangerous to the lungs in the first trimester then in the second and third trimester. Babies born to smoking mothers are likely to have breathing problems at birth from the delayed lung development caused by the chemicals in
The musical film has always held a special place for me. From my time as a drama student in high school, my eyes have been opened to the amazing world of the musical and especially the musical film. The musical film is a film genre in which the characters sing songs that are integrated into the overall story. Since musicals first began in theaters, musical films usually contain similar elements. These elements often simulate that there is a live audience watching. In a sense, the film viewers become the audience members, at a theater production, as the actor performs directly to them. Due to the popularity of musicals in the theater, the style was quickly brought over into film. In 1927, the musical film genre began
After reading the article, “Authorship and Genre” written by Kitses, it explores why the western genre in American cinema became so popular. Western films explored places that have been explored, which made the audience feel like they are exploring this vast new land. In western films, you can see a slow growth of social forms such as how someone should react after saying something. Additionally, western films tend to display the struggle of good and evil, such a wanted man saving the town from the bad guys. Kitses argued “[…] its being placed at exactly that moment when options are still open” (pg. 186) meaning during that period there was more freedom in expression in American life and culture.
Asthma is one of the most common chronic diseases and recognized as a growing public health concern. Exposure to tobacco smoke either through active smoking or by secondhand smoke can cause and/or exacerbate an asthma attack or asthma symptoms (Californian Environmental Protection Agency [Cal EPA, 2006]). In a person with asthma, exposure to cigarette smoke can initiate and worsens asthma by irritating the airways to cause asthma symptoms (World Health Organization [WHO, 2010]). The impact of Asthma is not limited to those with the disease, but also affect their family members, friends, schools and businesses (WHO, 2010).
In conclusion, what I discovered about myself about the demands of reading different genres is that each genre told a story behind it. Even though the genre can be simple, it can express more than it may look. It's necessary to know what category of genre you're reading because then you'll be able to understand the message it conveys, as it may have certain expectations. This knowledge can support my reading and writing in the future because now I won't look at one specific genre, but more than one so that I can gain more information and understanding.
No matter which type of job or career the author is looking for, a resume is a great first step. Generally, resumes are built and created in early adulthood by the author them self. There are a few things that can be assumed about the authors. First, they are middle to upper class individuals who like to show off their own personal qualifications, education, and academic and professional experiences they have obtained throughout their life. The audience in which will be looking over these resumes could be a pretty broad range generally speaking, but for the most part whoever the author is submitting the resume to will be the intended audience for this genre. I think it is safe to say this genre will be around for many years to come,
To begin, exposure to passive smoke as a child harms the function of the respiratory system by causing illnesses to develop in the lungs during childhood. Children who were exposed to passive smoke are highly prone to develop respiratory illnesses. For instance, asthma is one of the most common illness caused by exposure to passive smoke. Studies show that there is an increased risk of asthma in children associated with maternal passive smoke exposure by 20% to 85% (Burke et al, 2012). Through these statistics, we can quantitatively show how harmful exposure of particles from tobacco smoke is to the lungs of children and the possibility of developing asthma at childhood from passive exposure through the mother. Asthma is a respiratory condition resulting from particles in the bronchi of the lungs leading to breathing difficulty, whereby causing an inflammation of the air passages in the lungs due to particles affecting sensitivity of nerve endings (Asthma Society of Canada, 2015.) Particles such as nicotine from tobacco affect the sensitivity of the nerve ending in the airway leading to irritability resulting in buildup of mucus in airway. These particles easily pass through our passage way ,because they damage the mucus lining, so they are not easily blocked, which is why they enter into the lungs causing irritation triggering an asthma attack. While examining 133,800 to 161,600 asthma related cases, it was found that children during early childhood from two months to five
One day you're outside playing with your companions you stop to slow down and blast you can't breath. While a few symptoms of asthma are sniffling, wheezing hacking or hard to breath. On the other hand smoking after pregnancies. It's reparable, yet a great many people simply live with it since it's not so much that awful. It resembles you're taking in an inflatable, it's tight and thick and hard It typically influences in the event that you neglected for quite a while, yet it can change here and there and once in awhile individuals who smoke in light of the fact that the kind of are making your throat tight. Stuff that bring about asthma are individuals who smoke all the time. Individuals who are in a frosty.
As a person we all naturally make assumptions, but I do my best not to incorporate that into writing, especially for research. Unless I can have supporting evidence I will not directly state that fact or piece of information. In my Bioethics paper I analyzed an article supporting In Vitro Fertilization for women. We were limited to the number of sources we could use; with the article we initially discussed being the main source. I would say I displayed my strength of analyzing and collecting facts and details from the writing well. This was done by highlighting and made notes on this article several times across a span of three days that way I could pick up information that I initially missed. I was able to successfully follow and fulfill all of the guidelines and specific requirements that were assigned by the department and from my instructor while true to proven facts or results that can be backed heavily by research, this is an important strength in writing scitific
Just about everybody enjoys some type of music, whether it is country, rap, old country, western, or jazz. The right song can get you feeling in the right mood when you are in a good or even in a bad mood. That is why the type of soundtrack you choose for an event (just like personalized merchandise) can set the right tone and either make or break the occasion. Whether it is a subtle background music at a conference, or rock and roll at an anniversary party, choosing the right tunes is essential. Background music works best here. You will generally want something subtle that guests hardly notice, but that makes them feel calm at the same time. You can use music at meetings, business dinners, conferences and trade shows to enhance the atmosphere and get things turned up a notch. Soundtracks help smooth over mingling and chatting, and can give a corporate event an air of sophistication. Instrumental music works well at business events too, especially during breaks or pauses while people move from one event to the next. A string quartet, a solo piano player, or even a live singer can all work, just so long as they are quiet enough that people can hear their conversations. You might think live music equals stages and high volume speakers, but this may not necessarily
People have always enjoyed graphic novels for as long as they have been around. They have been used to spread around an important message, politic viewpoints, explore new ideas in literature, and expose different styles of art to people around the world. There are many genres, graphic novels can fall into, but a large majority of them will always be fiction because then the authors can expand more into their stories than they can with non-fiction.
Children with asthma around secondhand smoke have more severe and frequent asthma attacks, which can put a child’s life in danger.
In the short story, “My Parents’ Bedroom,’ written by Uwem Akpan, the most defining role of literacy that sticks out is symbolism. The images that are engraved into readers brains are ones that have deeper meanings than what we initially see on the surface. The story is told through the eyes of a little girl named, Monique, who is only nine years old. It is told in first person point of view so that the reader feels as if he/she is actually experiencing the situations first hand. The symbolism in the story, “My Parents; Bedroom,” illustrates the day to day struggle of living in Africa during the genocide. Symbolism is
