Creative Writing Is An Entertaining Activity

Have you ever thought about writing your own story? Or even create your own world and share it with the world? Creative writing is the process of doing just that. For my MYP project, I created multiple stories in order to reach my goal of doing just that. Throughout the entire process of this project, I have researched and gone through many difficulties while working on this project. Creative writing is something that not only is used to create worlds but can be used to express emotions as well.

"Wake up, partners," the trail boss, James called. I sleepily looked up , shivered, and saw I was the only one not up. "Here," James said, giving me the horses' bridles and saddles. "Take these and get the horses ready. We have a long day today." I groaned in reply and set up the horses for the day's long drag. I was the horse wrangler and this was my everyday job but I still couldn't get use to the idea of waking up before the sun and working. We drove the cattle into open plains against the winter's cold wrath.

In the beginning a story only exists in my shifting imagination, until I know what I want to say, and can put it on paper, with a pencil. As the words materialize, they become real and take on a life of their own, they exist on their own; only the choice

OH, you know what. Please forgive me, but I believe I never actually addressed your question, “What is creative writing?” Interesting that you ask, well for starters such a question is insurmountably subjective because the question itself is asking for a definitive upon an infinity, like get out of here. Not to bore you with technicalities or anything, I just don’t think that answer is possible, unless....But of course! It is not an answer you seek, but an opinion. Creative writing is a difficult process, often prone to failure. Upon hearing my frequent complaints regarding the activity, my friends often ask me why I bother with the business at all. There are several reasons why I write. However, to say that there is any one specific explanation would be incorrect and would oversimplify the subject.

Storytelling is the oldest of the arts. This artform is engraved within the essence of humanity, as they are used to make sense of the world and to share that understanding with others. Stories are recognizable patterns, and in those patterns we find elements that generate meaning. Some of these elements include, the plot, the characters, and the subtext of the story. In a well-written narrative, each of these elements work closely with the others to generate a captivating narrative that connects with its audience, and in turn, creates a deep meaning.

CONTENT AND FORM The mystery of what urges writers to write, and then to write the kind of stories they do is an old enigma. I feel writing is a journey to self, Joan Didion aptly says: “I write entirely to find out what I’m thinking, what I’m looking at, what I see and what it means.
