Immediately after we are born, we start picking up sounds; the sound of our mother’s voice, the music playing in the elevator on the way to the car, and the happy cheers from a small child seeing their new sibling for the first time. We are always listening–picking up on conversations not meant for our ears, eavesdropping on the gossip of the adult world, and finding the meaning in the portentous silence. From all these auditory stimuli, we piece together the world around us to better understand what is happening to us, around us, and the secret happenings that were not for us to know. Great writers are the ones who listen and say nothing–who take it all in and save their classified information for a day when all the right words flow and form one epic story of the wondrous world we live in.

The article “The Writing Revolution” by Peg Tyre is a piece which aims to address the problems in school systems often associated with the way in which writing is taught to students. Tyre’s article conveys the different arguments presented in the course of teaching writing to students, which have been shown to be on opposite sides of the creative and analytical spectrum. They are cline of literariness and narrative structure.
Orhan Pamuk once said, “The writer's secret is not inspiration - for it is never clear where it comes from - it is his stubbornness, his patience.” The writer’s general purpose is to determine the expertise that he wants to apply in his writing. The writer’s purpose and organization of writing is to persuade, entertain, inform, and draws the reader’s attention to the information. In the same way, the readers’ goals are reading the content, of seeking information, and increasing knowledge through reading. In these three articles, the authors have specific purpose and discipline the specific futures, and the reader's goal is to collect the noteworthy information. The first article, “The Nature of
“No surprise for the writer, no surprise for the reader”, writing with surprise is a central theme in “Writing and Reading for Surprise”, by Donald Murray, a professor at the University of New Hampshire. Murray claims that an author must first write what they do not expect to write in order to find their own style and voice, the motivation to write and the joy that comes with it. This is a problem, he says that plagues college students, as many have not yet discovered this art which causes many to have a distaste for writing. Murray uses his own personal experience with writing and how he first came upon writing with surprise to demonstrate how it change his style and gave him joy and motivation to write every day and to show how it can do the same for students. In order to do this Murray uses ethos, pathos and logos in order to prove his point and relates to his audience specifically.
Writing is a practice that most of us were taught when we were young. We were taught the basics of grammar, how to form a sentence, conjunction words, how to write paragraphs and more. Although we have learned this skill while growing up and have used the skill every year after entering kindergarten, this does not mean our writing process will ensure the best work. The authors that I chose each encourage their audience to excel in the art of writing in their own way to help with the writing process.

1) Hunger games what do I think and dislike about Katniss Everdean Katniss Everdean is a 16 year old girl who is the main character in the book The hunger games. I really like Katniss because she is brave, fierce and kind. You can clearly see that she is brave and fierce from the way she survived the hunger games and constantly risked her life. You can also see she is kind from the way she volunteered as tribute for her sister prim, looked after prim and her mother, help Rue in The Hunger games and thought to hard to win so she could come back to prim. I also really liked Katniss because although she did have to kill she really didn't want to unlike lots of the other tributes.
In the book The House on Mango Street, the author displayed how powerful the words we write are. The vignettes, Rafaela Who Drinks Coconut & Papaya Juice on Tuesdays and Mango Says Goodbye Sometimes are the main sections out of the book that show the power of writing. Being able to write is extremely valuable because the writer can inform numerous people, they can also express their feelings through words and can describe objects without others experiencing them. Lastly, writing is extremely powerful and when used right, can inspire others.
