Music in the 1960’s took a major turn. Psychedelic drugs began to influence bands and songwriters, resulting in a wide variety of new genres. Some of the popular bands included Pink Floyd, the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, and the Beatles. In 1969, the small town of Woodstock in upstate New York hosted a three day event known throughout the world as The Woodstock Festival: An Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of Peace and Music. Thirty two artists performed in front of an audience of 500,000 people. This event was highly influential and considered by many as one of the greatest moments in music history. Throughout three days, the bands listed above, and more played and young hippies gathered, listening to the music, experiencing sexual and drug influenced days.

On May 2, 2012, the National Football League lost one of its elite players to suicide: Junior Seau. Seau played for the Chargers, Dolphins, and the Patriots during his professional football career and was a 12-time Pro Bowler before retiring in 2009. Three years after his retirement however, Seau committed suicide by shooting himself in the chest with a gun. This greatly shocked the football world and its image of Junior Seau as a person, but it soon realized the cause for his action. This proposal is to help bring to life the Semester on the Appalachain, a semester long expedition on the Appalachian Trail for a group of ten participants, in order to provide an environment that can not be replicated in a typical classroom setting. Unit 10 was a closure for the previous four units in the process of inventing Canada. This unit based on the earliest resources on Canadian history and on the first nations whom lived in this country. This resources were about pre-Cartier and his explorations. Momo Rutkin is one of the kindest, hardest working, and least judgmental people I've met thus far at Emory. She's also super smart, down-to-earth, and all around such an amazing person. They knew that they were all on our way to the same place to enjoy "three days of peace and music." Had the festival lasted much longer, as many as one million youths might have made the trip to Bethel. What started off as a promotion for a music studio, ended up as one of the most significant political and sociological events of the age. The main attraction of the festival was an all-star cast of top rock artists. Some of the greatest musicians of the 1960s performed, including singers Janis Joplin, Ravi Shankar, Arlo Guthrie, and Joan Baez as well as the bands The Stone; and Creedence Clearwater Revival (Sandow, 1). Singer Joe Cocker and guitar player Carlos Santana, up to then unknown, became overnight stars. Some performers who were scheduled to appear could not due to traffic problems. The dictionary defines a hippie as one who doesn't conform to society's standards and advocates a liberal attitude and lifestyle. Most of the people at Woodstock were not hippies in the commonly accepted sense: a good half of them, at least, were high school or college students from middle class homes ("The Big Woodstock, 33"). The Naja haje is a species of cobra found in many parts of Saharan Africa. As a larger species of cobra, they have a reputation as aggressive yet reserved. The Egyptian Cobra is a hunter, and like many of it’s cobra cousin’s, uses venom to capture prey. Egyptian Cobras use a specific type of neurotoxin to fuse the vitamin K in the blood of its prey, causing for an immediate stop of the heart, causing a cardiac arrest. It’s venom also affects the central nervous system. The venom works by not allowing the nerve signals to be transmitted to and from the muscles. Sometimes, the venom can be as serious as stopping those signals transmitted to the heart and lungs , potentially causing death. Eventually causing respiratory failure. Egyptian Cobras do not spit there venom on other snakes, such as the red spitting cobra (Naja pallida) The snake has long fangs that it sinks into its prey.

In the United States, starting salaries for teachers who have completed a four-year degree are far lower compared to many other professions, which also require a four-year degree. In most states, teachers must undergo testing and other rigorous certification requirements, but they are given the same consideration or status as beginning professionals in other areas. Although attractive incentives are offered, the compensation does not compare to the long hours of work and schooling required for a teaching career.

On Sunday, September thirteenth, twelve people were mistakenly killed by Egyptian special forces. It was said that within twelve people that were killed, there were Mexican tourists who were also killed. This happened in the district of Wahat which is located in Libya. These twelve victims were killed because they were mistaken for terrorists by Egyptian forces. Reason being is that the area they were killed in, was a restricted area to any and all tourists.
