Growing Words In high school my essays were about summarizing a chapter from a book or writing a short story. There was no set length it had to be and there were not any specifics to focus on such as to focus on a strong introduction or to focus on being organized when writing. The essays that I wrote in high school were just for a quick grade or to help out our grade. I did not really have that much experience in writing essays. In the past semester I have grown more as a writer than I have in the past years. My essays have been becoming more detailed and less vague. It made me cite the sources using the Modern Language Association format. And the last sort of essay was a reflection essay, in which I looked back at the semester to see how I have grown as a writer in certain areas, also to see how I can improve in the future as a writer. My skills on using various writing techniques were improved this semester. The course taught me the difference in summarizing and paraphrasing. Summarizing is pulling out the main points of something a person has read, and it should not be as long as the thing is being summarized. Paraphrasing requires reading a sentence or paragraph at a time and making it into thier own words, and by doing so changing more than just a word or two. If only a word or two is changed that is called plagiarism, taking credit in which the work is not really theirs. I was also taught to use ethos, pathos, and logos in my writing. I remember in class we had to tell how our clothes reflective ethos, pathos, and logos. It really stuck with me the difference in the three and why and how I should use them in my writing. The ethos would give me creditability that I am a believable writer, the pathos would help give emotion and personation in my work, and the logos would contribute facts and informative things. I was well educated in forming a higher quality of an essay. The essay should be organized in a formally manner that flows well. The

English Composition I has developed my style of writing and my skills analyzing and researching topics to write a piece about a topic. Throughout the course, I got better at analyzing articles and pieces to get the meaning of the topic. With that improved skill I was more able to use the information given from the text and install it into my essays, with proper citation if needed. Before taking the English Composition course, I was not one to organize my essays in an ordeal order to clearly state the point of the work. Now with taking the course, I have learned to organize my essays, examine research for a topic, and develop an essay with proper mechanics, and revising skills. Throughout this class I have learn many different writing styles. We used APA form of writing to type our paper and essay. I have also learned that it’s good to take your time and spend more time thinking about what to write, other than just righting a paper right off back. I have learned that it’s not a good idea to write a paper on the day it’s done, that’s more like a ruff daft. My teacher have helped me understand different point of writing. Which all writing deal with an ethos, pathos and logos, either one or all of them will run through anything that tell you anything in writing. From what emotion are there to who have the rights to speak at the moment to what are the facts to agree with this person. As a class we have read articles, bio from many people to understand that it’s more then what the person is writing. Reading between lines and analyzing a part of the story can tell you more then what the writer is saying. Working together to understand something and work better than being alone thinking about a situation you can’t understand.
Over the course of this semester, I have learned many things to improve my writing. Having taken the course before, this semester has been an excellent opportunity to expand on my existing knowledge. Although I had written many essays before, there is still much to be learned and improved. Two factors of writing that I had learned or improved on this semester were transitions/topic sentences and how to properly structure a conclusion paragraph.
This essay is a reflective essay on my learning development from a young age through to my current position as a University Student. I will be relating my learning development back to two theories of human development, Vygotstsky’s socio-cultural theory and Marcia’s version of Erikson’s theory of identity development. I will identify and discuss the challenge I have faced with my identity and how this has impacted on my development.
Vital signs are a fundamental component of nursing care and indicate the body’s ability to maintain blood flow, regulate temperature and regulate oxygenate the body tissue. Taking vital signs are essential in revealing any sudden changes in the body, which could potentially indicate clinical deterioration of the patient.
During this semester, I have learned multiple things in my class, English 101. I have learned a lot about different concepts while writing these essays, I am less scared of the blank white page, and improved my rhetorical strategies. Through class assignments and writing the different types of papers, I learned these skills. Writing the Response to Argument essay and the Comparing Perspectives essay, was the most challenging to write, but improved my writing skills significantly.
To develop favorable essays, I must organize. By creating an outline before writing I can write effectively. When I wrote my essay on Beauty, I did not organize or use an outline. An essay is a great way to express your knowledge in a topic and also learn new skills involving reading and writing. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses when it comes to writing. To turn those weaknesses into strengths, I have practiced my writing and took the advice given by my peers and professor. Throughout this course, I have overcome many of my writing weaknesses such as citations, thesis statements, and transitions. Although there are still skills to improve upon, I have improved these skills by taking my time with each essay, proofreading them thoroughly, and reflecting on my work when finished.
As a writer my essays have varied in many different ways. My stronger essays, in my opinion, were the ones that had topics I could connect with. While writing about a topic I am passionate about or familiar with, writing comes easy to me. Writing seems natural when I can connect with the topic that it just flows right out of me, like I am telling a story. I love to write and I love to learn new things on how to improve my writing. Throughout my entire life I will need the skills to write correctly and I have learned many this year.
This is a reflective essay based on a event which took place in a hospital setting. The aim of this essay is to explore how members of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) worked together and communicate with each other to achieve the best patients outcome.
People gain new information everyday they spend on Earth, whether they are aware or not. Students especially, are exposed to new information and ideas daily. What and how students learn varies due to the different subjects requiring a different approach as you tackle those subjects. For example math and chemistry require one to do more written and hands on practice while history and sociology calls for more retainment of materials in the course study. One subject demands something different which makes it stand out is Writing. For Writing you have to use a blend of materials. For examples: personal experiences, general knowledge on topics, practice, and effective research just to name the general few. During this first semester of college Writing 101 has been the class that require the most work from me. Not saying it was hard, which it was not at all. Throughout college you are required to compose many papers for various subjects and with Writing 101 it prepares you for the possible written assignments expected throughout one’s college career. One paper that I enjoyed the most would have to be the exploration and argumentative because it allowed me to discus a topic that I really enjoyed.
My experience with English has changed drastically from middle school to college. Being in middle school I have really had to do much of a big paper, but as I progressed through college I’ve realized there much more that has to be added. I had always wondered why middle school was so easy but as years went on, I realized that advancing to college there’s a lot more requirements and importance to writing. Over the course of this semester each paper that was written helped to introduce me and my fellow classmates to different formatting, and genres of writing. A lot of knowledge was gained from writing these papers and I was able to compare and contrast the disciplinary writings and notice what makes each of them stand out. Reflecting back on these individual papers helps to express what I have learned.
