Returning back to school was a very natural decision for me. It seemed to be the next logical step in my personal and career goals. My ultimate goal is to be happy and healthy and be a good provider and role model. With that set aside for now, my next goal is to be financially stable and able to provide for my family in ways that my family was not able to provide for me. I definitely expect to work for what I want and earn every bit of it. The most recent motivator was that my company was willing to contribute a huge chunk of the yearly tuition, therefore removing some financial burden. This makes me feel like they truly care about my future and they really want to see me succeed.
I have several personal reasons for returning to school.

I am also attracted to the idea of being a life long learner. I feel there is always more to gain and learning never ends. Whether it?s in the classroom, at home, or in social situations, everyone has something to offer to me to expand my knowledge base. At the university, I hope to learn new theories and practices that I?ve never thought about that I can apply to my daily life. My classmates will tell of their experiences that may be forever imprinted into my memory. My instructors have a wealth of knowledge that I am eager to absorb. I feel that knowledge and information are the most powerful tools to possess and use in everyday situations.
At this point in my life, I am content with where I am now, but I know there is more out there. If I do not concentrate on my goals that I am mentally and physically capable to accomplish, my self esteem tends to suffer. It is important to obtain my goals in order to be fully content in my personal life.
I thrive on a good challenge. For example, if an assigned task is too easy, I tend to get bored and undervalue myself as a whole. I wonder why this person assigned this task to me; do they think I am not capable of a more difficult task? I expect my courses at the university to challenge me in ways I have never been challenged before.
The last reason I am returning to school is because I want to be a role model for my son. I feel
An experience in my life that influences my goals to go back to school is when I went to jail for the first time. Going to jail is an experience that changed my life forever, because it made me think of all the wrong things I was doing with my life. When I got out of jail, I attended church for the first time and asked Jesus Christ to come into my life. After asking Jesus to come into my life, I felt a change within myself and realized I can be a good person and that I am forgiven for the bad things I did in the past. Going back to school and taking my future seriously is what I am focused on right now. I want my children to know that I am doing this for them so they can have a secure future as well. I have 3 young children who look up to me and I do not want to let them down.
My decision to go back to school in the fall of 2012 was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made. I’m a stay at home mom of 4 boys with 2 of them being special needs. My oldest was born with a rare genetic condition called hereditary spastic paraplegia and my youngest son was born with a rare condition called Dravet Syndrome that requires 24/7 care. I was at a point in my life where I had lost my identity of who I was and I wanted to be me again. I made that important decision to go back to school for myself with the fear of how I was going to do it, but I knew that it was right. It took me 3 years to complete my AS but with the support of my husband and kids I was able to receive my degree. I worked hard and was able to juggle being
Adult students applying to college is more common than faculty thinks. Colleges are seeing more adults returning to college to complete a degree that they began when they were younger. The adult student is working longer in life and needs to keep up with their competition which is a younger group and better-qualified. The younger employee is technical savvy and has graduated from college with new ideas to share in the workforce. The research that will be included in this paper will focus on the conceptual framework.
Noted authors, Brandon Chambers, is quoted saying, “If you are going to fear anything fear success. Think about what you are doing and when you succeed what life you will have.” There are several different reasons why I could stay home, work and not go to college; I could go to work every day and make more money for the house, it’s easier, and I would be less stressed. Now, on the other hand there are many reasons why I should go to school; such as further my education, make my family proud, and make myself proud. I am attending college for several different reasons. One reason is to further my education. I hate feeling like I don’t know something, I like being the person everyone comes to for information. Also, because I want to
The reasons I have decided to go back to school is because I want to further my education to better myself as a single mother, and I want to show my children that you should never give up on your goals no matter how challenging life can be. Also, I chose to go back to school so that I can boost my son's confidence level so when he does homework, I will be right by his side doing mines whether its researching, reading, or typing papers. My ultimate goal for using this degree is to receive additional pay through my employer once I have obtained my degree. Secondly, I want to expand my career in law
I recently found a list of goals that I had written 20 years ago. Most of the goals were realistic and I was able to achieve them. While I was checking the items off my list that I accomplished, there was one that I have debated about for many years—returning to school to earn a degree. Returning to school has always been achievable; however, as each year of my life sped by and I got older, I always came up with more and more excuses as to why I should not return to school. One day I received a course catalog in the mail showing online classes at the college. I decide that an online class would be the first step to my future. I am so grateful for the first day of that class. All the excuses and delays regarding returning to school
Coming to college as an adult, we have many expectations and preconceptions of what college will or will not be. The expectations we have can influence our college life for the better or the worse. My experience since starting college has been an interesting one. People have misconceptions about college because they do not know what to expect. After doing some research, I have concluded that there are three major factors that are often misunderstood about college life. The first is the financial aspect of college. Second, is the relationship between the professors and students. Third is time management. These three factors play an important role in why people are afraid to go down the path to college.
I decided to go back to school for many reasons. First of all, it's always been a personal goal of mine to get a bachelor's degree. Over the years, I have taken courses to get close to that goal but I haven't been successful with completing it yet due to life experiences. Another reason I have decided to return to school is because I realize it's going to help with my career. I know getting a degree won't necessarily guarantee a promotion or raise but I believe it will provide more opportunities along the way. My ultimate goal for obtaining this degree is to use it towards getting a Master's degree.
I decided to go to college because I believe that education is an important part of life and that being educated has many advantages. Like many, one of the biggest reasons for deciding to attend college is to create a better future for myself. Being a first-generation college student my parents have implanted on me the importance of college education, as it is something they wish they would have done themselves. As the first of four children to go to college, I feel that it is my responsibility to be a good example to my younger siblings, and show them that it is important to have goals in life and to better yourself as a person through education. I understand that an university education may not be for everyone, but it felt like the right choice for me. What I hope to get out of college is a life-changing experience, not only to get a better education, but to find something I am truly passionate about. I think it is important when choosing a career or a major to find something your heart truly wants and not just a career that will make you able to afford expensive things. I also hope that somewhere along the path to graduation and adulthood, I find myself as a person and develop ideas, opinions, and to be able to approach the world with an
I went back to school with the simple goal of getting my degree and moving ahead in my career. School, education and obtaining my degree were always important to me, since my profession requires a bachelor degree to qualify for national certification, it was a better
My reasons for returning to school may seem a bit selfish but let me explain. I have been an EMT and Paramedic for the past 28 years. The areas for advancement in this field are far and few between. Although I have over 10 years of experience as a supervisor, to be considered for a Director position, a Bachelor's Degree is required and here I am.
There are a few key reasons why I want to return to school to earn an MBA. First and foremost, returning to school will be an excellent chance to expand my career opportunities. Currently I am an optometrist in the United States Army and I am the Chief of the Optometry Clinic at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. This is a great assignment, and I chose a rewarding career in optometry. I really do enjoy caring for patients and their vision. But I like having options. I currently manage a staff of sixteen, and they present me with more challenges on a daily basis than most of my patients do. After having had this management opportunity, I realize that I enjoy managing people and I like solving organizational problems. Earning an MBA will
I always remember my father telling me that you do not appreciate and value what you have until you lose it. The thing I value and appreciate now is going back to school. I did not finish my education when I was in high school, but now I am studying so I feel that I have another chance to make my dream true. I am a first generation college student in my family including my parents and eight siblings. Before joining California State University, San Marcos, I always felt that I am missing something important in my life, but now it is my chance to be successful and make my whole family proud. Thus, I do not want to waste it even though it is not easy to study since I am a busy mother of four children. This is my last year in CSUSM and my major
Once highschool ends, you will think you are already done with school, and you can finally be free, and you are kind of right. However, your college education should not stop at high school, as high school only teaches you a few things. Going to college will teach things outside of just learning some basic math and writing formats. College will prepare you for life as well. By going to college, you will earn more, be more employable due to your accumulation of knowledge, and you will live a healthier life. College is not for everyone, but if you prefer a secure future then it is suggested to go to college. By pursuing business without a college degree, you could lose all your money and everything you have worked for at any moment if you are not cautious. With a college degree, you can earn a decent salary with a secure job.
By going back to school and getting my degree I am opening up potentially lots of doors for myself in the future. I am setting a good example for my boys and that no matter what age you are, it is never too late to go back to school and further your education. Education is the key to opening up positions in the workplace that someone without an education would not be able to pursue. The benefits will far out way the time and work that it will take for me to complete my degree. This will be something that I can be proud of and prove to myself and others that no matter how hard the goal may seem or how long it may take you to reach the end results, it is always worth it to follow your dreams. I am extremely motivated to accomplish this goal for myself.
