Every human being has feelings and emotions. When they get frustrated, some of them cry, scream, swear, and some of them try to find peace of mind while some of them commit crime. Out of these people who commit crimes, some of them become the most dangerous criminals, known as serial killer. A serial killer is a term to describe that human being who commits series of murder. The word ‘serial killer’ was given by Robert K. Russler (FBI Investigator) in 1975 after he encountered series of murders. Serial killers are just not murderers but also the victim of bad society or the bad environment in which they grew up in.
Murder on a Sunday Morning is about an African American boy who was wrongly convicted of murder. He was only fifteen years old when his life changed forever. While first watching the documentary, it seems to the audience that Brenton Butler, the convicted boy, is guilty. Mr. Stephens, husband of the victim, Ann Stephens, claims that Butler came over, tried to take Anna Stephens’ purse, and then before she could comply, he raised his gun and shot her in the face. Sadly, Mr. Stephens was the only eye-witness, which is a major red flag, as he is connected to the victim. After being forced by the detective, Butler confesses. Once defense attorney, Patrick McGuinness is involved, he has Butler tell the court of his innocence and thus beings the criminal proceedings for Brenton Butler.
This serial killer was chosen because this serial killing pair is the most infamous English serial killers duo in the 1990s. Fred and Rosemary West were not convicted of all the murders they participated in; however, they were sentenced to life imprisonment. Also, this case is interesting because Rosemary West, to this day, does not claim to know anything about the murders even though she has victims that survived her attacks and have spoken against her in court.
“I just know it’s a dark side of me. It kind of controls me. I personally think it’s- I know it’s not very Christian, but I actually think its demons within me” (Wenzl et al. 308). Dennis Rader, infamously known as BTK, commented about what he called his “factor X” above, which he claimed was his motive for killing. The demons within Rader supposedly caused him to murder four members from the Otero Family leaving the youngest daughter hanging in the basement nearly naked and gagged (Wenzl et al. 10). We now know that these demons within and “factor X” that Rader was referring to was his psychopathology, but we cannot ignore that these traits were triggered by early childhood experience. His early childhood experiences as in many other
Serial killers traumatize entire communities and cause tremendous disturbance to everyone. The Gilgo Beach serial killer is also known as the Long Island serial killer and Craigslist Ripper is said to have been responsible for 10 to 17 murders. The killer is said to target those who work in the sex industry and is believed to have been active for more than 20 years. Although the killer has been active more than 20 years the police are nit anywhere near to catching him. This essay will take a look at the investigation of the serial killer, take a look at who some of the victims were and finally give my opinion on how the case is being handled. It is important to note that the identity of the killer has not been identified therefore there has not been a trial and a sentencing. Also for the purpose of this essay I will be referring to the Unsub as The Gilgo Beach serial killer or simply as the killer.
This poem reminds me of a kid I met when I was little. Since believing in Santa Claus is an American tradition and I’m the first generation Korean American in my family, we don’t follow/ celebrate holidays in America so I knew Santa was a fake (I also don’t celebrate Christmas because I am agnostic). I met this boy when we were in third grade and he was talking about leprechauns. Yes, leprechauns. I didn’t even know what a leprechaun was back then. He said his mother and little brother captured one and forced it to give the location of where it hid the gold. Well, my other fellow classmates laughed at him and said leprechauns are not real and then they asked the boy if he believed in Santa. The boy said yes and the classmates said to him, “Santa’s not real dummy.” Eventually the boy refused the fact Santa was a fake and he started bawling. My third grade teacher, Mrs. Gamper, had to comfort him. I was wondering, isn’t it cruel of adults to make their kids think these fairytale creatures who make miracles, are actually real? They eventually have to say to their kid, “I’m sorry I lied to you for all these years.” I think these stories are actually making a child’s trust and happiness drop because one, they’re parents lied to them; two,

How will you live your adult life? Well, there is one important thing that should be remembered by all, and that is life will get you down, but you can always recover and keep succeeding.
Although the prevalence of the serial killer is ultimately unknown, many researchers agree about “one-half of 1%” of homicides are determined to be the product of serial killers (Homant & Kennedy, 2014). In order to prevent future victims, improve the ability of law enforcement to detect and apprehend, potentially incorporate treatment for current serial killers, and increase the ability to detect potential future serial killers it is important to identify characteristics that may cause one to become a serial killer. The question researchers have strived to answer is are serial killers born or are there explicit factors that contribute to someone ultimately becoming a serial killer? Researchers have potentially exposed several factors that potentially contribute to one becoming a serial killer. These conditions are notably greater in prevalence in known serial killers compared to the general population. These factors consist of family dynamics/parental characteristics, experienced child abuse (physical, sexual, and neglect), and psychological disorders.
December 11, 1978, Robert Piest was reported missing by his mother. He was last seen meeting John Wayne Gacy for a potential job. Halloween is about Michael Myers, he was around eleven or twelve when he killed his sister, the sister’s boyfriend, and the stepfather. While that was happening, his mother was coming home from her last day of work, she was a stripper. Michael had a soft spot for his baby sister, so he didn’t kill her, his mother found him and the baby on the house steps. Then it showed reporters at the house with people carrying out the dead bodies, which was sad to see the mother crying and screaming. He was sent to a facility or something. There must have been a reason on why he killed and what if there were signs that showed that he would become a killer. Many, but not all, serial killers suffered some kind of trauma in their childhood. Childhood trauma played a key role in the lives of numerous serial killers. Halloween is a representation of a serial killer’s possible childhood experiences that affected their future.

Serial killers have dated back to the Roman Empire where a group of matrons allegedly murdered men with a poisoned ring.
