1. The value-orientation theory argues that all human cultures are confronted with shared problems that emerge from five different orientations. Below I will explain the positive and negative consequences that have resulted from the U.S value orientations.
HUMAN BEING-NATURE ORIENTATION- The specific orientation refers to human being’s relation to nature both physical and philosophically.
Positive Outcomes:
a. Religion- This topic is very much controversial, and we still deal with problems however within the United States, about 87% of U.S citizens believe in some sort of heaven, hell, or life after death. This statistic is much higher than other parts of the world. Furthermore, the United States is the most diverse country in terms of

For example, unhealthy circumstances can lead individuals to do evil things. For instance, if one was abused as a child, science suggests that there is a higher chance of that person abusing their children as an adult. Unfortunately, this contradicts the common belief of rationality and all too often people are punished for what they did rather than being rehabilitated or helped.
RELATIONAL ORIENTATION- Relational orientation refers to the perception of oneself and the ways society is organized. In the United States, people tend to define themselves in terms of their occupation rather than in terms of family or personal relationships. The United States is characterized as a highly individualistic nation rather than one that values collectivism.
Positive Outcomes: Freedom. We have freedom to be who we want. We have the freedom of speech, freedom to practice any religion, freedom to work towards our dreams.
Negative Outcomes: This value in the United States has led people to compete in order to obtain what they want rather than cooperate and work together for the common good. We maximize benefits at an individual level instead of

These values have come from a variety of experiences. I was adopted after growing up in a very unfortunate situation. I believe a lot of my compassion for people naturally comes from my early childhood. This was enforced greatly by my adoptive parents. They have always taught me to be a kind, honest and genuine person. I truly believe that everyone is special and if given the right opportunity they can shine. We are too quick to judge, too quick to punish and too quick to give-up.
4. These values do affect how I communicate. I listen a lot more than I talk. I like to understand people and learn about people. The only way to do that is by listening to them. Don’t get me wrong, once I know you I will never stop talking. I like to give people a chance to express their ideas and feelings. Although, I often times disagree with what most people say, there is a reason why their beliefs are what they are.
5. I am very careful, respectful and friendly. Like I said, I like to learn about other people. I have had a great time a Tech meeting people with many different cultural backgrounds. We are all humans, and although we might be different colors, shapes and sizes, I think that bringing different worldviews and perspectives together can change our world. The difficult part is getting 7 billion people to follow
There is a strong connection between values and human happiness. The free will of an individual creates values. Utilitarianism states that human beings choose actions that maximize their pleasure and minimize their pain. Value theory can provide a sound base of developing moral guidelines that can bring the greatest good and little or no harm to many people in the society Since values can only be obtained through personal reasoning, they can provide able direction to the moral principle The fact-value problem arises when there is a difference between “what is” and “what ought to be. Inconsistency between “what is” and “what ought to be” can result in confusion and chaos in a society or
As I reflect and pounder about my adult life, I see to this day these values are still present in my life. I use these two values every day to communicate with others, whether I am at work, school, or talking to someone in my family. I believe that everyone is their own person, and are in control of their own density. When I attempt to socialize with others I try to keep in mind that we are all different, so what I like someone else may not. So, I try to be considerate with people and their thoughts. I also don’t look down on anyone when I am socializing with someone. I do believe that we are all equal, no matter race, age, or gender, we
Values are often influenced by different ideologies, so it is important to look at these also.
Values inform or influence choices and action across a wide range of role and context. Successful evolution in culture, systems and practices across a diverse needs base.
It can be said that one outcome is that more of the workforce has been engaged to its full potential, by having laws that take an active stand against discrimination. This has significant positive effects for the economy as a whole, and can serve to drive economic growth. Moreover, there is a greater portion of society that is less disenfranchised. Single mothers have more opportunities to provide for their families
The Nature of Man refers to the distinguished characteristics which humans tend to have naturally. They are traits that each and every human being, regardless of their race, religion, gender, and sexual preference, have since the beginning of Man. The true Nature of Man is one of selfishness and evilness.
If these values are instilled in children from a very young age, they're going to become part of their own personal values and beliefs. And this, in turn, will help shape who they will become as an
Some American cultural values are; Individualism one of the more prominent value that warrants self-fulfillment and
Overall, my values are really focused on enjoying life in a way that does not contribute to the suffering of others. I know that this is a somewhat impossible goal in my lifetime, so I try to focus on how to be as inclusive as I can be in my immediate environment. My values are a great source of pride for me as I believe I am helping to contribute something great to this world. While my values are in conflict with my mother’s, that doesn’t
tter if they are minor, moderate, or severe individuals all around the world face problems. With this in mind, characters in the stories Hamlet by William Shakespeare, The Lottery Ticket by Anton Pavlovich Chekov, and Lamb to the Slaughter by Roald Dahl face different circumstances which lead them to the action of being the described word “bad”. Therefore, humanity is not born “bad”, circumstance forces individuals to bad behavior.
I had learned these core values from my family, teachers/professors, peers and myself. While I was younger to the age I am now, I was shown how important it is to have strong characteristics that make you a person. Everything I had been through I had lost and gain some of the values along the way of my life. I will admit not all of these came at once; it took much time to see the importance of my life and progress what’s left in it. Most of the time, when I was stuck I’d ask for advice and see how others got
A: I try to let people know that they can talk to me about anything. I listen when they speak and I don’t let my feelings or emotions come into play. I try not to be judgmental and I let them know that I understand where they are coming from.
My personal values help guide me to distinguish what is right and wrong, this helps me in everyday life decision making along with taking action. The values I have chosen and hold closest to my core include integrity, responsibility, concern for others, and honesty. I chose these values because I feel that they are the most important in my life, and they relate well to the topic of child abuse. Integrity is the quality of being honest with strong morals. This is one of the most honorable values to have because not many people possess this trait.
family values is in my family. I have been taught to attend church every Sunday. When in the future I have my family I will instill this value into my family values. This has made me a better person. Many people
The value systems framework originated from the inventive research work of Dr Clare W. Graves. Abraham Maslow was the first psychologists, who initialize the concept of developmental stages of individual requirements. The self-actualization is the highest hierarchy of Maslow's theory. Dr. Graves disagreed with this limited and closed Maslow's hierarchy. However, according to Graves's theory, the human development is an open-ended development process, where an individual has the capability of continual growth. The theory gives a clear conception in understanding the development process of bio-psycho-social-cultural being. According to the earlier approaches, the behaviour is dependent on only individual needs and desire. However, the Graves's theory states that the behaviour of an individual is dependent on several factors such psychological, social, biological and individual
