An Oklahoma bill is currently making it’s way through the senate right now that could drastically affect the way abortion is by residents. State Senator Joseph Silk, plans to abolish abortion in the state of Oklahoma with his bill titled, SB 1118. SB 1118 would consider the act of abortion to be first degree murder. The bill has recently passed through the health and human services committee, and the first degree murder penalty was added after. Silk states, “Life begins at contraception,” and believes the embryos have every right to be protected as a one-year-old child would be. Unfortunately for Silk, the bill is currently stuck, held by the republic committee, and refusing to let SB 1118 be heard on the senate floor. The conception of transparency seems to be everywhere in todays time, from the products we consume as buying customers to the governments we look to in leading our nations. Social media is another refuge for transparency. With millions of people noticing, it’s difficult for any organization or individual to say one thing and do another. Supporters of the transparency movement say that it is a very good thing; after all, transparency is serving to keep people honest and up front about the products and services they sell to consumers.

I graduated high school from Los Angeles Technology Center. My teacher thought I was going to drop out for being the first generation of immigrants enrolled in high school. They assumed my last stop of education would be attending continuation school. I was receiving many negative comments mostly stereotypes from my teacher, classmates and administrators. I did not know how to deal with it and had no psychological help. My counselor told me there was no point in being in continuation school. My classmates would tell me I was going to have a lot of kids and live on welfare. Negative comments like these brought my self esteem down. I was able to prove them wrong and graduated high school and said the pledge of allegiance.

The main intention of SB1070 is to cut down a majority of the illegal immigrants entering the United States by having the immigrants carry immigration papers to prove their identification of their legal status. However, SB1070 had focused more on trying to secure the border resulting into taking the citizens’ constitutional rights while causing uproar with a large amount of controversy. The Mahele of 1848 was a time where foreigners could buy and sell land, supposedly for the goodness of Hawaiians. According to Richard Borreca of the Star-Bulletin, many of the foreigners believed that if the Hawaiians were to own land, they would give up their lazy and ignorant ways. However, the natives were new to this concept, and outsiders were the only people who had money. Therefore, the foreigners were the people who bought certain regions of Hawaii. This means that the Mahele was beneficial to foreigners because it gave them the right to own land as well as a more efficient way of producing sugarcane.
