Today I am presenting my tedtalks, which is about reading, that thing that everyone should do. To start, I always grew up thinking, reading was just a hobby, that it had no no value in your life. Yeah, I was definitely incorrect. The point is, is that reading provides you so many things everybody wants and needs such as entertainment, education, improves your memory, and even is a good way to relieve stress. If you don’t read that's okay, everyone has their own time when they feel the need to read, now if you’re choosing not to read because you frankly just find reading books to be boring, then you’re wrong. Personally I find books to be better. Going back to what I said earlier about opening your mind, that's how it works for books and movies, When you’re watching the movie. You see through the story, you see what happens, you see the characters, you see everything left to right. While reading a book on the other hand. You visualize the story, you picture what happens, you picture how the characters look. For example let's take the movie and book “A Monster Calls”. A movie most grade 8’s have gone on a trip to watch, and you can definitely notice the mixed feelings about whether the book or movie is
Anyone who would like to succeed in life or plan on making a lot of money knows that you have to know how to read. You have to know how to read to do everything,You are not going to make it in the real world if you don't know how to read. Reading can help you with a lot of things like whether it be financial issues, educational issues, or life in general.
Research indicates that reading leads to better comprehension of daily tasks. This was shown in the Emory University studies, as they studied the effects of reading on the brain the neurologists also noticed increased understanding. Being able to better understand how to complete common tasks leads to better judgement. These new skills can increase a person’s functional ability which can improve the chances of you getting into a career. The University of Buffalo conducted a study that showed how reading can increase a person’s empathy levels, leading to them being more considerate to others feelings. Reading books teaches people very important lessons and morals in life. They found that this was because when a person reads, they are thinking in the perspective of the character’s point of view and overcoming many obstacles. The stories within the books also contain many morals that are taught to the reader. Since the reader is usually deeply invested in the book’s story, maybe because it’s relatable, the lesson will imprint on them strongly. Reading teaches a person many different skills and lessons that can be applied to normal life, and improve
Reading to learn can only help us. Reading does not have to always be about knowledge, it could be for pure entertainment. Reading affects the brain in a good way that helps with communication, understanding, and learning. Many adults still read to learn and expand their knowledge on many ways of life and as well as many other life events.
Even if you don’t like to read it’s important to know how, and to possibly even find a book you do enjoy. I strongly agree with the saying that there is a book for everyone because I truly think there is. Literary reading can show you how different people can think and their perspectives on certain things. It gives you knowledge on other people and things you didn’t even know about but do now. It informs you on topics and past
There are several reasons why I believe reading is important. First, it is an enjoyable pastime. While reading, characters and storylines get absorbed into your brain. This leads to creating bonds and connections to fictional people, forming other worlds we can use to escape our sometimes bitter reality.
Being provided with amusement or enjoyment is important and is essential for being content in life. Entertainment in general is fascinating; such as movies, television shows, video clips on YouTube, music, comics and other ridiculous things that people do in this world, not only entertain us but also teach concepts and morals either directly or indirectly. Books are either entertaining to some or are just objects that make life stale and boring, but yet these insignificant objects can provide more entertainment while also allowing cognitive thinking skills and learning universal truths that teach life lessons. People have different opinions towards books and how to utilize them for the generation of today and if reading novels is even relevant for students in the future. Although reading a novel provides the reader a better understanding of its concepts, it is not necessary or important to read an entire novel to understand the book.
It is nice to take a seat, relax, and break open a book of yours to read. With nothing else in mind, you embark on an adventure as the words guide you through your journey. This is the idea a reader normally accompany the feeling of reading a book. For many other people, like me before, they find it dreadfully painful as for each page turned is like trying to get closer to escape from captivity. I am unsure when my hatred associated with literature started, maybe caused by the hauntingly boring books I was forced to read by my former teachers. However, as time goes by, my attitude towards books gradually lifted when I was unchained from my shackles and allowed the freedom to choose my books. It wasn't that the books were bad, well, maybe, but
There are many reasons to read. You could read for pleasure, to help you in the future or just because it’s good for you! So what are the benefits of reading? That’s where I come in today I’m going to tell you about my top three reasons to read and what makes them so beneficial.
“Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are,” (Cooley). Reading has impacted us in many ways throughout our lives. Often time’s books give people different perspectives on their lives. People with high stress levels often find comfort in reading books to take their mind off of their concerns. Sometimes, people just need to take a step back from their life and relax for a while; therefore, reading is a great tool. Reading all kinds of books has also helped me become a better writer. There are many different books that have impacted me over the years.
Reading allows me to explore and go on a journey, and take part of myself on that journey. I can relate with characters in books whether they are fictional or real. We all read for pleasure, to explore, even to share all the same feelings we all share reading the book, and feeling the same feelings the authors of the books went through themselves. This is what makes a book fun to read. That is what I think C.S. Lewis meant when he said “We read to know we’re not alone” because books let us feel the experiences others felt, and share the same thoughts and feelings as others around us.
Reading a book outranks watching a movie because books develop the imagination, they provide more backstory than a movie could and they last longer than a movie. Books engage the reader more than a movie, letting the reader think for themselves. A book provides more information to the story than a movie could, and the entertainment of a book last for days while a movie only last for a few hours. When I was younger, I did to not enjoy reading, but then I found genres that appealed more to me, and now I continue to devour books. When I read, I love “becoming” another person if only for a little while. Through reading, I have grown not only in spelling and vocabulary, but also in my own writing as well. Illiteracy remains a common in the world and, in the U.S many have the privilege to learn to read, but they waste that ability on simply watching television or staring at phone screens or other devices. God has given us the ability to read and write, so we should spend more time using that gift and appreciating the wonderful world of
We all know reading is boring, time consuming, and compulsory. All though, most kids would agree with that statement, some may disagree. Some can say that if one does not read they can lose knowledge and become less smart. If you don't read there can be consequences for stopping. Reading is valuable because it gives readers the power to escape, to maximize their potential, and to strengthen their mind.
Many people would rather watch a movie than read a book, but not me. Movie buffs argue that movies save time, because they only take less than two hours to watch. Sadly, people won't even read a book anymore because they just can go see the movie. They don't realize how much they are missing! Reading a book gives the reader the power to illustrate the story in their own mind, while a movie does that for you. Reading creates a connection between the author with reader, and when watching a movie it's hard to get that connection with the author because most of the time you don't even know who the author is. Reading lets your mind take you places you never even knew you had. Reading the book is the better way to go because in reading you get to experience something a movie cannot provide for you.
In the world of modern technology there are many ways to keep one entertained and informed. Two of the best ways are through the reading of books, and the watching of movies: both are eternal works of art designed for those who would wish to momentarily leave the existent of reality and dive into a world unknown or to question the known world through stories of factual relevance. Both take the entertained on a journey that has been created in the minds of a genius, but, it is the way they take the entertained into their imagery worlds that are different. Books, for example require the reader to use there imagination to mentally visualize the image the author is trying to perceive. Movies, on the other hand, will have the audience mesmerized as the picture comes to life right before their eyes. Both books and movies are great evening actives
In the end, reading is something that can connect people’s hearts with their minds, and are able to continually grow inside. Reading allows room for emotions and comfort. It can help with academic success in writing and comprehension skills. Reading is power and grants a multitude of benefits to the reader in many different ways.
