Change molds us in life and makes a deciding impact in our future. In A Christmas Carol, three spirits visit Scrooge for the better. Scrooge’s character transforms to be grateful, generous, and kind.
To start off, Scrooge becomes kind as a result of the visit from the Ghost of Christmas Past. This spirit presents to Scrooge a scene with Fezziwig, his old mentor, and Dick, his old colleague. On page 225, paragraph 83 of scene five,”It isn’t that! It isn’t that, Spirit. Fezziwig had the power to make us happy or unhappy, make our service light or burdensome, a pleasure or a toil. I would just like to be able to say a word or two to my clerk just now, that’s all!” Scrooge realizes that his experience with Fezziwig was only pleasurable because his mentor made it so. After living this memory again, he decides that

The Spirit shows Scrooge Bob Cratchit and his family, which includes Tiny Tim. Page 55 of paragraph 271 states,”Spirit, tell me if Tiny Tim will live...No kind Spirit! Say he will be spared!” Scrooge feels sympathy for the young boy, and he wants to prevent his possible, and likely death. The only way he can create a positive impact and keep Tim alive, is if he becomes more generous in the future. This change occurs in paragraph 78 of page 290,”I’ll raise your salary and endeavor to assist your struggling family and we will discuss your affairs this very afternoon over a bowl of smoking bishop.” This isn’t the only generous action that Scrooge makes towards the Cratchit family. He also had a huge goose delivered to their house anonymously, and gave money to those involved in the process. Before the ghost encounters, Scrooge was reluctant to give any money away to anyone that wasn’t working for him. His sudden wish to give his own shillings and time to the poor shows the significant transformation that has been made since Present visited
The Ghost of Christmas Present showed Scrooge many happenings from the people Scrooge knows, but the Ghost also showed him people he doesn’t know and probably never will, people who are suffering themselves. After the Ghost showed Scrooge the Cratchit’s household and his nephew’s house, he showed him people far from home, people in jails, people in hospitals, and people who were simply struggling. The Ghost blessed each of those people, the people that he had no relation to, the people whom he knew nothing about. Their struggles were relieved, the struggling more patient, the sick healed, and so on. In doing this, the Ghost showed Scrooge that although Scrooge was not magical, one person’s blessing can impact many people. He showed Scrooge that kindness and generosity can make the biggest difference, and caring about others, caring about all others, can create a big change and be beneficial to everyone.
He is reminded what it is like to be poor and how to show empathy when he is shown Bob Cratchit’s house. The text states “Spirit,” said Scrooge, with an interest he had never felt before, “Tell me if Tiny Tim will live” (Dickens, 30). Scrooge’s character has changed as a result of The Ghost of Christmas Present because he begins to feel worried over Bob’s family and his little son. Previous to the ghosts’ visit, Scrooge had no empathy to give and could not have cared less about anyone
This quote shows how Scrooge feels bad for previously being mean to the boy singing outside his house. Another quote from the text, (Act II, Scene 3, Paragraph 55 and 57) Scrooge states, “Scrooge:Spirit, tell me if Tiny Tim will live. Present: I see a vacant seat... in the poor chimney corner and a crutch without an owner, carefully preserved. If these shadows remain unaltered by the future, the child will die.
Poor people are happy with the little they have although Scrooge is not happy with his wealth. The people of the town have friends, family, and usually are joyful. On the other hand, Scrooge has no friends and his family doesn't like him. As a result of the visits from the three spirits, Scrooge changes from a mean and greedy man into a man who realizes money can’t buy happiness. Scrooge’s past experience with fezziwig’s party is affecting him by realizing that not everything's about money.
People can change by making better choices and learning from their mistakes. In A Christmas Carol, the main character named Scrooge makes some really bad decisions. He is always mean to everybody, even the people who work for him and help him. At the end of the story, Scrooge makes some big changes with some help.
Greed influences people in negative ways. Money and power can corrupt people and replace their relationships with material possessions. In Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, Ebenezer Scrooge starts as a greedy, grumpy elderly man. After three spirits visit him and reveal his past, present, and future, he realizes the error of his selfish ways and comes to understand the poverty that surrounds him. Scrooge examines his own mistakes, which encourages readers to consider their own actions, thoughts, and emotions.

Throughout the drama, “A Christmas Carol”, the playwright, Charles Dickens, tells a story of a man who is irritable and only cared about money. He realized his mistake before it was too late. The main character, Ebenezer Scrooge, is able to change his life when he meets various ghosts. Three events that caused Scrooge to change includes visits from The Ghost of Christmas Past, The Ghost of Christmas Present, and The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come.
Have you ever met someone who wouldn’t show their feelings? Well Ebenezer Scrooge is one of them. In the book “The Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens, Ebenezer Scrooge had a horrible history when he was little. Marley and him were good friends until Marley died. Ever since Marley died Scrooge began to be cruel. He even let his first love walk out of his life. Then later on in the book he becomes more nice because he is visited by the three spirits of christmas and they all had shown him all the things he lost in life. After that he stated to become more nice and now he cares about everyone and tries to help or do things he didn’t do with them.
The first spirit to visit him was the Ghost of Christmas Past who showed to Scrooge some of the past Christmases that Scrooge was a better man in the past. “Oh I loved her,” said Scrooge with a smile on his face when he saw Fann, his loving little sister. There was also the Ghost of Christmas Present. With the help of both of them, Scrooge was beginning to become a greater man when he saw how awfully Mr. Bob Cratchit was struggling. The Ghost of Christmas Present showed Scrooge how the other people around him cared for him. At Fred’s party and at the Cratchit house, they both gave a toast to Scrooge’s good health. Looking at these two instances Scrooge started to turn into a finer man for himself, family, and
Ebenezer Scrooge has gone through some really hard changes throughout the passage. The begging of the passage Scrooge was a really grumpy man who wasn't liked by many people from the town. On page 6 it quoted “ If they would rather die said Scrooge, they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population” this statement showed how Scrooge really didn't have a heart to care for others. Everyone in town was afraid of him because he was just really cold hearted that when someone would say Hi to him he would just walk by and ignore that person.
They first go to a cluster of men talking about Scrooge. One says that Scrooge died last night and that he probably left his money to his company. The next place they go is another knot of men talking about Scrooge. One says, that “‘Old Scratch has got his own at last, hey.”’ (Dickens 135). This shows that even if Scrooge doesn’t care about other people, people care about him. The next place the spirit took him was to a place where a woman had all of his belongings and was trading them in for money. It appeared the woman stole them for she said, “‘Who's the worse for the loss of a few things like these. Not a dead man, I suppose,’” (Dickens 141). This woman should realize that even if Scrooge is dead he will still hear things as a ghost. She should not have stolen the things because life is not just about money, it is about being happy and being honest. The last place the spirit showed him was the Cratchit’s home again. It was a scene of Bob and his wife talking about how Scrooge was dead. They were talking about how she had tried to see him but he said no. They realized that was because he was ill and dying.
Additionally, when Scrooge's nephew, Fred, comes into Scrooge’s place of work with Christmas spirit, Scrooge gets really annoyed and tells him to leave because he thinks that they should be working and not be that merry. Although Scrooge is not a nice person now, he still has room to change and grow, and if he does, he will save himself and many other from a bad life in the
