Sixteen candles was written by John Hughes, this movie was his first 1980s teen movies. Hughes was inspired by Molly Ringwald, to write the screenplay. As, he was finishing up writing the screenplay for Mr. Mom and National Lampoon’s Vacation, Hughes' agents at ICM gave him a stack of photos of young actors. When he was going through the stack he noticed Molly Ringwald, then began write the screenplay for the Sixteen Candles. John Hughes finished the script over a single Fourth of July weekend. Hughes also was so impressed with Anthony Michael Hall's performance in National Lampoon's Vacation that he created the role of Ted “The Geek” just for him. Next, they separate go to there classes and Sam’s other friend gives her a sex survey. Sam began to fill out in class and tries to pass it to her best friend that is sitting behind her. But, the survey falls on the ground instead of her best friends table. Sam’s crush Jake picks up the survey and begins to read it notices, that she said that she would be interested in having sex with her. Then, Jake begins to ask about Sam, to his best friend. He later asks the geek that also, has a crush on Sam about her. The same night, Sam went to her school dance with her best friend by her side and also the foreign exchange student her grandparents were hosting. The geek that had a crush on her would not leave her alone the entire night. Due to this fact, Sam decided go to the auto body part of her school and was sitting in a car. She just wanted to be alone because she was her crush Jake and his girlfriend dancing and she was getting upset. As she was sitting the geek came along and they began to talk , as they were talking in the beat up car. He told Sam that Jake was asking about her like and she got really excited. After, the geek told her this Sam started to practice talking to Jake in the hallway but could not find the right words. Later, that night when the dance was over she saw Jake in the coat closet but froze and did not say anything. On the other hand, Jake froze too when he saw her and did not say
