As a student of the English class 1301, I feel like I’ve made improvements on my writing skills. In my opinion, English 1301 is a tough class. Because I thought some of the topic was difficult to write. However, practice makes perfect is the case here. Writing as much as you can is the only way to make an improvement. To be honest, I was not a good writer to begin with. I was a bad writer in my native language, and so I struggled writing in English. Sometimes, I find it difficult to put words together, even when I have the all the ideas in my minds. In my perception as a writer, I would say there are many areas that need an enhancement. And I would like to discuss about my weakness in English first. One of my weakness is grammar. I don’t
When I first started English 101, I saw myself as having a few good strengths and a lot of weaknesses as a writer. Some of my strengths included being able to write a good introduction minus the thesis part. I also saw myself as knowing how to write a good conclusion that summarized what I talked about in my essay and being able to understand a article or essay by knowing what the author was talking about. Some of the improvements I saw in my writing thorough out the semester is learning how to write an essay where I can communicate with the audience with my own personal voice. I also feel I improved on knowing how to properly include quotes and how to find good creditable sources to include in my essay and on how to include both sides of a argument in my paper. Another improvement I found in my papers is learning how to revise them and approach each essay. However, there are some items of writing that I believe I improved on but still needs some work. For example, even though I have learned all about the rhetorical appeals and how to determine them in a essay, I still feel as if I do not know how to properly included them in my essay. I also see myself as improving on knowing how to write a thesis but still need work on
My expectations from this class is not only because it is a requirement for school but also to help me develop writing skills and improve my way of critical thinking.
I believe my greatest weakness as a writer is that I am not very good at grammar and punctuation. When I was in high school, during my sophomore year my English teacher was not very good. She did a lot of punctuation and grammar lesions with us but most of the time she contradicted herself making things way more confusing than they really were. After that class I have
The weaknesses I see in my writing are my sentence fluency and conventions. When I am writing an essay, it is difficult for me to have correct grammar and no run-on sentences.
My weakness that was evident in my writing was my grammar, I made a few mistakes that could’ve been fixed had I revised my grammar more intently. Overall I enjoyed this writing because it was based off a topic that I could relate to easily. I learned that if I organize my ideas prior to writing, it makes it a lot easily to write about.
I can remember well when I first joined English class 1301 I thought the journey would be easy and it would be all about reading, writing and interacting with my classmates. I have done various research projects, I have analyzed readings and also, I have practiced communication skills orally and also through writing in this class. Talking about researching, writing and communication, I can look back and appreciate the essay I wrote on Ubbi Steel Diaper Pail. The work was outstanding and it gave me confidence to face other assignments throughout the course. The journey has taught me how to carry out research and present it through writing and, I have been able to develop various communication skills.
The way I write is not specific enough. I have trouble coming up with ideas on how to express myself. Having trouble coming up with ideas makes me a generally broad writer. I don't have a lot of focus in my writing. Since I have trouble trying express myself. It makes me not want to write. Not writing often, can impair my grammar level. I also tend to write in past tense. I remember you, the professor loudly stating that "a good writer, writes in present tense". I have analyzed the writing on my in class essay response from the growth mindset video subjects.
Over the course of the English 1101 course I have learned how I am as a writer including my struggles and strong suits. The four papers written each brought new difficulties and learning experiences. I had a difficult time in this class because I’ve always been a technical writer that pays little attention to sensory details and strong verbs. The narrative, compare and contrast, process analysis, and position papers taught me skills and shows me what I need to work on to become a better writer.
As my freshman year of college comes to a close, I reflect on my two English courses this year. I have learned a lot these last two semester in my english 101 and 102 classes. English 101 focused a lot on different types of papers, while English 102 focused mainly on taking what we learned from a reading and analysing and interpreting of stories and poems we read. Looking back at my high school English days, I believe I had made major improvements in my writing abilities between these two semesters.
My writing never seems to go together like it should. To me almost all of my writing seems weak. I always think that there is a lot more that I could have fixed. My writing would be so much better if I knew what exactly it is that I want to change and how to change it. One of the main reasons that I think my writing assignments aren’t very good is because they aren’t very creative. Even though I think that my weaknesses outweigh my strengths I do have some strengths. Some of these would be that I can easily follow the rubric and can usually get a good grade on my papers. I also think that I am pretty good at the grammar and spelling part of writing assignments.
My strengths in writing lie more in the creative aspects than in the grammatical aspects. When I am inspired I think I do fairly well with the creative parts of writing but I allow the rules to fall by the wayside. I strive to do better with my grammar because I know it is essential in order for my writing to be best understood but I still struggle. I have also struggled with dyslexia and the problems which come with that.
Since English is my second language, I always had trouble writing. In the beginning, I did not enjoy writing. However, as I started to spend more and more time reading books, writing essays for classes, I started to get better at it. To me writing has many forms. Moreover, it is expressed in variety of ways. There are times where I always think about what is good writing or what makes someone a good writer. To me good writing is something that is clear and simple to understand. If I am not able to understand what the writer is trying to get across, I will read if few more time. Even after that, I am not able to understand or fully understand what I am reading then that is bad writing. I think everyone should know how to write or at least learn
My most recent writing course was English 102, which I took last year. I've also completed all of the lower division degree requirements, some of which were heavy on writing (anthropology, critical thinking, etc.). I tend to score well in writing classes and generally don't get a lot of feedback about where I need to improve. I think my weaknesses are centered around being too direct; sometimes it's hard for me to meet a word count while keeping everything clear and concise. I'd like to improve my ability to make content flow without being redundant or frivolous. Additionally, I'd like to work on being thorough and providing enough detail without feeling like I'm wasting space on the page. I believe that these weaknesses are also my strengths
After reviewing my first journal entry, I find that some of my strengths in writing English are gradually improving, and a number of my weaknesses have improved significantly. It seems to be a good result of long training process. Firstly, I suppose there is no good way to learn English by practicing. To conquer brainstorm skills, I have to approach as many new topics or requirements as possible so that I can get acquaintance with these kinds of lessons and complete them quickly. Secondly, researching the mistakes or paragraphs of others helps me avoid repeating grammatical errors, and have more ideas for writing as well. In addition, when I write about any topics, I have many chances to apply different grammar and structures in my articles.
I am not good writer but this semester I learned many writing technics to become a good writer. Technics involve type of writing, writing process, summarization, paraphrasing and revision process of piece of writing. Writing is creative process I must understand and research my topic before writing. In addition, how to write a thesis statement and write logic clear and thoughtful topic of the writing. I don’t have many strengths but I have lot of weaknesses. I can find good topic to write about. I think about my audience and why I am writing about topic or purpose of my writing. That is some of my strengths as per my weaknesses there is huge list. My weaknesses are poor language and word choices, unclear meaning of sentence, lack of clarity,
