After reading the course syllabus for English 3010 I realized the main goals of the class were to gain experience in writing research papers. This goal is accomplished by working in assigned groups throughout the semester and writing weekly blogs to document our thinking process. The benefits of completing these goals are experience in academic research writing and understanding the thought process that is required for the type of writing with-in our chosen professions. For example, learning how to write research papers will prepare me my career in grant writing. As stated in the syllabus it is important to create a research project that can analyze the type of writing style needed in my discipline. I have done some research on the job
The concept of requirements for the English major at Yale University is based upon a desire to inform, and, as explained by the description of English 125 and 126 on the department website, are meant to provide: “generous introduction to the abiding formal and thematic concerns of the English literary tradition.” A resounding emphasis is put on the benefit the student will receive from the skills that the classes require. However, students would be able to “come away with a sharpened awareness of what it means to read with the attentiveness that great literature demands” regardless of the content of the syllabus, as long as there was a focus on close reading and form that was adhered to by the professor. The question that remains is: what is
The course, English 202C, was an invaluable tool for me to better my technical communication skills. I have learned many crucial tips to make my writing more professional and compact. This course helped me to understand the importance of saying what needs said in the most straightforward way and to get to the point as quickly as possible. These concepts will be useful in the workplace because people such as employers do not have time or the patience to read lengthy messages, reports or other forms of documentation.
Skillfully, this course has changed my outlook on new elements which continue to develop and expand my communication skills both personally and professionally. Although I’ve acquired skills through experience, this course enhanced my communication skillset by adding valuable meaning, volume, and structure in all forms necessary to prepare a well-thought-out message. As a result of following the three-step writing process, I’ve learned how to define a purpose, prepare an outline by using sufficient information, select an appropriate approach and incorporate the correct channel to transmit an effective message.
Discussion questions two each week: Should be responded to during the week class is in session Starting TUESDAY. (DO NOT wait till Monday the last day of any academic week to answer all the questions) P.S... Read ALL of the posts with IMPORTANT in the subject line first and follow the directions. Please put your name after the DQ in the subject line. When you respond directly to the DQ, 100 word count minimum on ALL posts.
Business communication demonstrates several content material that has been covered in class. It communicates the importance of various subjects that relate to workplace situations and what will come across in the future. All the material has different ideas and understandings, most of the content is new to me and has taught me much about business communications.
The reason behind this written memo is inform you of my personal background, career goals, course study, and interests in learning technical communication.
In the workplace, good communication is almost always near the top of list of desired traits. It is also on the list of big problems! So, our final project is aimed squarely at communication. Specifically, you will be providing background information on a technical topic, presenting alternatives to solve a business problem related to this topic,
Title: Identify, using examples, the purposes of written business communications in four different business contexts
To add up with my conversation, I move on to communication skills management. An effective communication by laymen terms makes easy way of transforming the message without change in actual desired motive. The empirical research reveals, many people are brilliant in ideas and methodologies, due to lack of communication may lead to false interpretation and not impressively proficient (Deacon,1997; Hauser,1996).I think, this is well observed during our poster presentation. Previously, we are not aware of how to present the poster which is little different from group tasks. Secondly, the experience of presentation by overcoming the barriers of communication with effective sound management (P.F.Drucker, 1909; Michael K. Swan, Washington State University). With the knowledge attained from my previous work experience applied in practicality I used these communication Models for visualising the concept. For instance, Berlo’s SMCR model (Source-Message-Channel-Receiver)had an impact that will confer the attained knowledge to “sender” and
I would like to continue deviating from the recommendation, to identify some information that one would need to collect before forming a recommendation in a real world scenario. The fact is that the organization currently has some workers teleworking and some reporting physically. One must analyze how the current business practices have affected organizational success, before worrying about what direction is best for the future.
