World War I

The event of World War I began with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. This brought Austria-Hungary to declare war to Serbia in July 1914. Many other countries were later drawn into the war. These other countries being involved in treaties, obligated them to defend other nations. It was the first important war there had been in over forty years. Soldiers were utilizing new weapons and technology with old skills, which caused great destruction.
