Lifelong Learning & Consultation 11) Describe what you learned about yourself and your professional development from feedback given by your peers in the small group exercises. I learned from feedback given by my peers in my small group is that I am too critical of myself and the accomplishments I want to accomplish. I find that I judge myself harshly when I am not able to accomplish the goals I set for myself. My group made a comment that I need to have more self-compassion about the circumstances I have gone through with my parents getting a divorce, working a full-time job, going to school full-time, and having an internship. It seems though that I have busy schedule because I feel more accomplished when I am able to do more activities in my day. Knowing that I am able to do multiple jobs at once makes me feel more positive about myself; however, if I fail at one of the jobs, I start to criticize myself. My group and I believe that is a good idea that I have less tasks to worry about but put 100% of my effort into what I am already involved in. 12) Summarize the personal/professional growth that has occurred over this semester by describing what you understood about yourself and professional self-development at the beginning of the course, what you learned throughout the course, and where you are now. At the beginning of the course, I feel that I was naive about my professional knowledge about the field of social work. I had a false knowledge about what the field entailed

During this time, I expect to learn and gain hands-on social work experience in the field. Also, I want to learn how to use and apply social theory into my practice. I want to build and gain the relationship with my field/task supervisors and colleagues. Moreover, I want to gain the opportunity to develop the personal and professional identity. Lastly, I will learn how to use my experience from my practicum setting to practice in the social work field in the future.
| Answer:My client was asking me to do shopping and laundry for her, it wasn’t in her care plan, so I seek advice from my supervisor, and my supervisor put me at ease and said I must follow the care plan, and if my client requires this to be done then she can inform social
Social workers have to be adaptive to every changing social situation and issues therefore continued personal and professional learning is vital for improvement of social services (Schmidt, 2016). This is reiterated within the HCPC Standard of Proficiency 3.3, as a social work I need to take responsibility for my own learning, implementing a process of carer long learning. I've used my learning from university and from first placement to highlight both my strengths and weaknesses, it also made me realised even though I feel I'm strong in a particular area they is still room for further development.
One of the strengths of this syllabus is the learning outcomes of the course based on the educational policy and accreditation standards [EPAs] of the Council of Social Work Education [CSWE]. The presentation of EPAs competencies, which implicates what students will be able to do if they complete the course successfully, helps construct students’ perception of the course’s purpose in the preparation for their future as social workers. The syllabus also does a good job when connecting social work core competencies with practice behaviors and related assignments. In short, at the first two pages, the syllabus would help students perceive clearly the objectives and expectations they could set up for themselves during the
This study involved the difficulties of adding curriculum to an already crowed social work curriculum and ways to add more training for students while not adding to the overall curriculum workload. Being such this problem is one of training and not necessarily a problem to be resolved by a human service professional.
I have been engaged in social work practice for over 12 years, and I regularly integrate my clinical social work practice experience into my classroom so that students have a sense of what their future careers might look like. In addition, I serve as academic advisor and mentor for approximately 25 students of a variety of ages and experiences. I see my role as an advisor as both mentor and guide. I also use advising to help socialize students to the expectations of social work practice. I have also served as field liaison to students completing practicum, in which I have provided support and guidance for students so that each student has a meaningful practice learning experience prior to entering the field. Additionally, in my current role, I have provided intensive mentoring to students of color and students with disabilities so that they continue to stay engaged in their learning
The last four class periods, we have focused during lecture and in the assigned chapter on the basics of social work. Primarily, we have focused on the NASW Code of Ethics, which all social workers follow and are bound to as they work in the profession. In addition, we have focused on other concepts like assessment, accountability, and autonomy. A strong foundation and understanding in these core concepts will help to eventually help to make me, personally, an effective and committed social worker.
• Critically reflecting with my mentors to gain insight and guidance into my practice and gain constructive feedback
It is important for me to provide students with a well-informed view of social work. In order to help them think differently, I have to help students understand the relevance of social work in their lives. I try to match students to practicum placements based on their strengths and weaknesses. I try to get them to step outside of their comfort zones by placing them in practicum settings that will challenge their beliefs and ideas. I am often met with resistance, but I am able to process with students and utilize insight to help them understand the importance and relevance of stepping outside of their comfort zone (something we often ask clients to do in order to promote
This problem affects my work, school, and family life. I think once I start to value time and get in a set schedule my life would run more smoothly. I need to learn how to state what I want and go for it. I would love to start setting goals and keeping them. I always say I'm going to lose weight but I never work for it. I guess you can categorize me as lazy and I really need to change that.
The course provides has provided me with a great understanding and knowledge a social workers role and a families function, the
