On October 25th a message was sent to the Varsity Football Team regarding the necessity to retake their team photos and it was scheduled for October 30th. My sons asked if I could attend so I could take some extra pictures for them, especially since this was Alexander's last year with the high school. I was both crestfallen and enraged yesterday when only thirteen players, including my two, and one manager who showed up for the picture. None of the coaches were present for the picture either! I have enclosed both a copy of the picture as well as the initial request for pictures at the bottom of this email for your review. This just emphasized the misplaced priorities and lack of cohesion this team has displayed this year. I understand …show more content…
In light of my lack of any coaching experience, I still understand that there are players who offer more skills than others in the game. I understand those players are given the opportunity to help the team more than others, hence the first string, second string positions. I do recognize that all of the players are there to offer themselves for their team, and when challenged, they can provide outstanding plays as well. The trust and motivation that is essential in a team sport is what is lacking here, and that seems to be derived from the players feeling of being overlooked by their coach. I believe it would be beneficial to watch the past games and see where the missed opportunities for other players to be utilized better would be achieved. Maybe there could be the opportunity to really look at each student's skills and work on refining those skills in a way that can benefit the team better. I'm talking beyond the normal blocking techniques and catching the ball. Who can spin and reverse a play, who can jump and block the field goals, who can get the interceptions, who can read the line, the list can go on. Everyone has special talents, but if they are not giving the opportunity to play, then they are not being utilized to their full
Over the past three years we have acquired many top players that have allowed our team to develop the skill and force we need to take down top teams. These girls have many unique qualities and skills that have allowed us to excel to another level that we could not achieve alone. Not only that, but the coaching staff, the strength and conditioning development staff, trainers, and athletic department have been working so hard for us all year and have provided us the resources, and means to be great. However, I stand by the argument that a major source of success this season came from the senior class. Every single one of the seniors has made a major contribution to this team on and off the field and I believe they are in the spirit and the heart of this group that stood as the foundation for the success of the
The Jonathan Alder football team finished their regular season on Friday, October 28 with a victory against their conference rivals from Fairbanks. Despite that the final margin of victory sat at just 14 points, the Pioneers manhandled the Panthers for much of the game. Alder headed to the locker room for halftime winning the game 35 to 7. Their offense was headed by touchdown receptions from junior quarterback Preston Eisnaugle to senior fullback Hunter Maynard and junior receiver Dalton Potts. Rushing touchdowns from junior running back Jamie Dye and senior fullback Austin Fooce, who ended the first half by bulldozing the Panther’s defense for his second score of the game, also added to Alder’s offensive production. Dye would finish the game
In my life I feel like I've been very successful, whether I was playing sports or working hard for school. When I regress to my glory days during middle school, I feel very euphoric, almost as if I was boasting to a group of my friends. I look back and see myself as if I was practically infallible. I remember how my attendance was merely perfect up until the first time I had gotten strep throat at the end of my 7th grade year.Or how my pop warner football team went 9-0 for the season, winning the championships of the Big Island.
I remember when I was little thinking how awesome it would be to play football and I looked up to the people older than me like in middle school or high school when I was in elementary thinking that someday I would be in that same situation.
Although I am no longer part of the squad, I just want to let all of you know that I hope all goes well this season. Yes, there will be people doubting you guys because of the fact that the senior offensive line, 6 starters on defense, and the SLC’S best quarterback are now all gone. You must all persevere and overcome adversity. As I am writing this letter, you guys are 3-1 on the season. Two weeks ago you guys were ranked #10 in the state for Division 3 which is phenomenal so congrats for that! I was very proud when I read that on wissports. 2016 Seniors, last year we started out 3-0 and had all the momentum in the conference. We lost on homecoming to our rival, Elkhorn, and from there everything went downhill. We lost 5
Furthering this argument, the NCAA has certain rules regarding insurance for athletes who play intercollegiate sports. Most colleges and universities now require that students, playing sports, must have their own insurance policy before joining a team. In many cases, students are often still covered under their parents’ policies; however, this is not always the case. To try and help these athletes, the Collegiate Athletes Coalition, an alliance that approaches problems and offers potential changes and resolves threats that could drastically alter college sports, had developed a plan in 2001/2002 that would provide coverage to student athletes for medical purposes. The NCAA seemed reluctant to hear and change these policies; however, since that
In my opinion, I believe the Kingsborough Athletic Department handles culture diversity exceptionally well. The opportunity to work with the athletic department has enabled me to meet students and staff from different cultures and various backgrounds. Kingsborough Community College students represent 142 national backgrounds and speak 73 different languages. The college is so diverse; there’s opportunity to work with the athletic department staff that are from different cultures and various backgrounds. In addition, some of the student-athletes who represent Kingsborough sports teams are from different cultures. Furthermore, the athletic department recruits any student-athlete from anywhere regardless of their culture or background. Recruiting
Football is a favorite American pastime. Everywhere in America, young men in high school dream about one day playing for a college, or even a professional team. For them, it may have started at a young age, but it is most relevant when playing in high school. This dream is different for each individual, but each team has the same goal at the start of every season. This goal is to make the high school state football championship playoffs. Of all the things that the playoffs bring, the atmosphere of each game is what makes every practice and game worthwhile.
It’s the only time of year when one shot can make or break a team’s season. It’s the only time of year when athletes can be magnified into stars or heros. Millions of eyes witness every heart-breaking upset and every game-saving buzzer beater. It’s March and it’s madness. The National College Athletics Association (NCAA) makes "$6 billion annually and $1 billion just off of the men’s basketball tournament” (USNEWS). In 2013, the Louisville Cardinals faced the Duke Blue Devils in the Mid-West Regional Championship. Louisville, the tournament’s one seed, looked to be moving on to the final four when a freak accident slowed everything. Late in the game, sophomore Kevin Ware of the Cardinals leaped to contest a 3 point shot. While everyone in
Before every football game, I get my football pants on and I gather all of my gear. I get my helmet and pads and I put them together somewhere. I then grab my jersey and put it over my shoulder pads.
Imagine if East Jordan Middle High School (EJMHS) had an 8 man football team. We could have great opportunities come our way. EJMHS must have an 8 man football team to lessen injuries, improve our record, and better player stats.

It was a dark and stormy night, the wind was howling thunder and lightning roared as if they were locked in a ferocious battle. I didn’t know why or how things happened the way they did but I was bound to prove my innocence. I didn’t know if I would ever get to hang out with my friends ever again. But before this story progresses you need to know how I got to where I am.
High School football begined in the 19th and late 20th century and is played by many countries such as the United States and Canada. Football is my favorite sport because you actually get to hit somebody and the fans of our teams cheer us on. Also, I love football because our cheerleaders doing our school chants and picking us up when our heads go down and motivate us more. My first football game I was very nervous because I thought I was going to do bad or let the team down because I never played in a big crowd before but I got over my fear and loved football since and worked harder and harder each game. The things I really love the most about football ls Homecoming games because we get
Yes, only 11 teams in the NFL have a winning record going into week 11. Leaving 21 teams with losing records after 10 weeks for the first time since 1990, according to Adam Schefter. NFL fans expect every season to be unpredictable but this season is as unpredictable as ever. Some teams will look like contenders one week and then an 8-8 team the next week.
