I had to understand the circumstances in which people were in and how interact with residents respectfully and compassionately which provided opportunities for personal growth by practicing integrity, justice and good stewardship. Though I was a bit hesitant, my experience has been very positive. Just being a volunteer without any related experience or skills, I was unqualified to help and many ways. The few menial tasks that I was able to do seemed to be met with much enthusiasm and appreciation. Simply helping someone to their seat bringing them a cup of tea or
I assure that systems and processes are coherent, uniformly followed, and they protect the least advantaged without creating undue burdens for the rest. For example, I once had a patient who was diagnosed with HIV; it was because he’s a homosexual and a heroin addict for years. The nurses, having this information was afraid of him and basically blames him for being in the situation he is in now. I felt that it was wrong that they felt this way and asked them to at least erase the fear they have for this patient and give him the dignity and respect he deserves and to treat him just like they would any other patients in the unit.
A care worker should be aware of all beliefs within the care home to ensure all residents are entitled to the food, time or areas to perform religious activities. This can be overcome by ensuring that all religious beliefs, cultures and preferences are respected and understood. For example with religious food such as halal, the food is to be processed differently to normal food. This should be respected by the care home by ensuring they are provided with the appropriate equipment, space and time to act on their religious beliefs. Allowing people to express their beliefs, religion, cultures and preferences allows these people to feel respected and treated equally to other people who follow the same lifestyle or beliefs.

Working as a Home Health Aid I would often show empathy to my clients, promote safety and quality, and I would maintain a positive attitude. Empathy was an important part of my job. As a home health aid I would work with clients to promote good hygiene and complete any dietary needs. I would make sure to be as empathetic as possible with my clients by listening to their preferences or concerns about my job. Since I worked very closely with clients I wanted to make sure they were comfortable with me, so empathy was my main priority. Safety was another important part of being an aid. I would need to use my judgement on what my clients would need my help with to ensure they were being the safest they could be. I would make sure the quality of
Being respectful and considerate to your patient is necessary for providing excellent patient care. It is also important to be respectful and considerate to your colleagues; arriving on time, being a team player, doing above the minimum as often as you can are all excellent ways to show this. It is essential to ensure that the workplace is an “environment in which all colleagues enjoy equal respect and where they can advance to their full potential.” (Professionalism initiative, 2012) If everyone treated their colleagues with respect, it would make the workplace very hospitable and help provide better patient care, which is the main purpose of nursing. An environment without respect can become hostile and impair the growth of your colleagues and yourself which can lead to giving substandard care to your patients and their families.
Being compassionate and available to provide support to the patients and their families in difficult times
Take reasonable care to ensure that your actions do not put individuals or others at risk
