Filling up a car with petrol involves putting a mixture of petrol and ethanol into the fuel tank. The E-number of the fuel indicates the amount of ethanol that has been added. In the UK, most petrol is E5 or E10, 5% or 10% ethanol combined with 95% or 90% petrol. Examples include BP ultimate and Shell V power. In the USA, E15 fuel is commonly used and in Brazil, where sugar cane is grown for fuel, E95 is usual. [1]
