Overview
Trigger finger, sometimes called trigger thumb, is a condition that locks a person’s finger into a bent position. Sometimes the finger will then snap straight out, similar to the way a trigger is pulled and released. It happens when inflammation causes the space around the sheath that protects the tendon to narrow. In severe cases, the finger cannot be straightened out.
The irritation and inflammation associated with trigger finger disrupts the normal gliding motion of the tendon as it moves through the sheath. This interference contributes to the trademark bent position of an affected finger. If the tendon sheath remains irritated for an extended period of time, it can lead to thickening, scarring, and bumps that further impede
Rheumatoid arthritis affects the joints in the wrists and knuckles, though it may occur in any joint. It spreads throughout the body and damages connective tissues and organs. It will eventually, if unchecked, stiffen the joints in deformed positions. In this disease inflamed tissues erode the bones and cartilage.
This condition is caused by excess pressure or strain (stress) applied to the intermetacarpal ligaments. This often happens because of a hard, direct hit or injury (trauma) to the hand.
Differences is what makes people unique. But what if being different is the reason for someone’s unhappiness, what if being different causes someone to want to be the same? In the short story Hands, written by Xiao Hong, a girl who is different from the rest of her peers at school is mocked and dehumanized. The girls name is Wang Yaming and her hands are much darker than the rest of the girls because she is a dyer, someone who dyes cloths. People such as the principal, the girls at the school, and even Wang Yaming’s father all either pitied her, believed she wouldn’t outcome to much, or relentlessly criticized her. The majority of people judged her before getting to know her and her life because of the time and setting of the story was set during a time where people were more close minded because they were not used to being with different people and different ideas, which caused the characters of the story to see the world one sided.

Officers endure about six months of training in the academy. After the academy they continue to train yearly. Although they train yearly many do not have the training in dealing with people that have mental health problems. Not being trained properly in the mental health can lead to the misuse of the officer’s weapons. Officers know who not to tase but sometimes have mishaps and tase people who are pregnant. If needed officers tase people who are on drugs but people who are on drugs have a much higher chance of death. The misuse of tasers by law enforcement can cause serious injury. Officers need to be aware of who they tase and how much force they use.
The hand is a very important extremity attached to the human body and is used in everyday life. Humans use it doing almost everything. The major systems the body uses to be able to move the hands are the skeletal, muscular and nerves systems. The skeletal system of the hand involves the bones, such as, eight carpal bones, five metacarpal and fourteen finger bones (Istitute for Quality & Efficiency in Health Care, 2013). All connected by joints and ligaments. The muscles include two parts, the thenar eminence and the hypothenar eminence (Istitute for Quality & Efficiency in Health Care, 2013). The thenar eminence moves the base of the thumb, also lets the thumb touch the four fingers; the hypothenar eminence allows the little finger to bend
How would you react if you were informed that there was a cancer which, according to research conducted by Vox, from 2001-2013 has killed more United States Citizens than AIDs, illegal drug overdose, war, and terrorism combined? A vast majority would search for a cure the ailment, fight for justice for the victims, and seek to ensure that the epidemic was contained. It is an unfortunate truth that such a cancer exists in society today. We have tried to treat it, to avoid it, and in the end, we have swept it under the rug as an aspect of daily life. This cancer has no elaborate medical terminology, it is a simple two-word phrase that many of us are well acquainted with: Gun Violence. It is imperative that the people of this
The inflammation that occurs can cause wear and tear. Thus, the inflammation causes pain, stiffness, swelling, and, limited range of motion. This then leads to wear down of the bone and destroys cartilage. It also affects the body’s biggest organ: Skin. Rashes occur in in various places of the body. Some, even develop Raynaud’s phenomenon, which is a condition of the skin on the ears, nose, fingers, and toes. They turn numb and pale or purple when exposed to cold.

Both light touch and deep pressure are fast-adapting senses. The bulb of connective tissue is involved with adaptation. When deformation of these receptors first occurs, there is a burst of electrical activity. If the stimulus is sustained, the bulb then mechanically adjusts to it, and allows the sensory nerve to repolarize. The effect is loss of sensation. As soon as the pattern of deformation changes, the neuron immediately depolarizes again. The overall effect is to increase sensitivity to changes in the pattern of physical contact (touch) with the environment.
