Tom Hanks' Bringing Out of Sympathy in Audience as Forrest Gump

Tom Hanks plays the main character in the film Forrest Gump.' When the film was released in 1994, it shot Tom Hanks to international stardom as the film received unbelievable amount of critical and financial success. Due to the international stardom of 'Forrest Gump,' Tom Hanks has now appeared in several big names films, such as Apollo 13, Green Mile, Saving Private Ryan, Catch Me If You Can and the film that launched his career Forrest Gump. Forrest Gump white washed the Film Academy Awards, including, Best Director (Robert Zemeckis) and Best Actor (Tom Hanks).

Forrest has few friends through the years. The very best friend that Forrest had was Jenny; when no one would let Forrest sit next to them, the only person that did let him sit down was Jenny. Jenny and Forrest were meeting up more often, so they were best friends. Forrest described their relationship as Peas and Carrots. Forrest sometimes took their relationship to far and thought it was his duty to protect her. An example of this is at the girl's college and Jenny is in the car with another man kissing, and Forrest runs over to the car and punches the man in the face, Jenny gets out of the car and isn't best pleased with Forrest. Another incident is at the bar, when Jenny is singing naked with her guitar, and the drunken mob start getting 'touchy feely' with her and Forrest goes to her rescue, but Jenny isn't happy with Forrest about it, because Jenny says that she can look after herself. Throughout the film Jenny keeps running away from Forrest, she runs away when Forrest enrolls in the Army, when Forrest is sent to Vietnam, Jenny then runs away with the hippies. Forrest doesn't mind that Jenny keeps running away from him or he doesn't realize that she is actually running away from him. Forrest writes letters to Jenny every day in Vietnam but he
