Matthew dealt out the flat red cards into an even amount between his sister, Sarah, and himself. Matthew kept thinking of a way to beat his sister in this card game. Matthew focused on the cards as if they were the questions of his test, and his cards were right answers. Matthew was like an about to attack lion to get ready to catch its prey. Sarah noticed how off Matthew’s motions were, and when she tried to make a move, the move was taken the way. "Matthew, are you alright? Matthew dealt out the cards again and placed down the first card. Sarah kept eyes on Matthew's expressions as he put cards in the pile. Matthew started to be more careful and much more thoughtful with every card still thinking that the questions are on the cards.. The siblings got to the point that they each only had one card, and the correct card was Matthew's. Sarah sighed in defeat as if she . 'Something is one Matthew's mind, maybe it's the test he was studying for, when I went to make mom's card!' Sarah was slowly piecing together the puzzle."Let's have another round," Sarah smiled. Matthew sighed," I have work to do Sarah." Matthew really needed to get back to his studying. Matthew couldn't stand failing the test. Matthew would feel terrible, mainly because he wants a scholarship, so he can go to a decent college. "Come on! Just one more game," Sarah nudged Matthew with her elbow. Matthew tried to keep his test in mind as he shuffled the cards. Sarah placed all of her cards down as she got rid of all of her cards. Sarah wasn't like the Christmas child, she use to be all the time when she won. Sarah had seem to have lost all of her joy, but Sarah still had a smile, a weak one though. Sarah gather the cards one by one to put the cards back into the red pack they came from. Sarah started to look at the ground in disappoint as her smile was corrupted with
Trial 1 (A), included the participant holding the deck of cards face down , and he/she must sort the deck of card into 2 piles, one pile being a black suit pile and the other a red suit pile. In between the trials, the experimenter (also the time keeper) shuffled the cards. Trail 2 (B), again, holding the deck of cards, face down, the participant is asked to sort the cards into 4 piles this time, one for each suit; diamonds, clubs, spades, hearts. Once Trial 3 (B) is finished, the cards are shuffled again and handed to the participant. Trial 4(A), is a repeat of trial 1, the participants had to separate the deck of card into 2 groups, by alternative color. For each trial, the participant was timed as to how long it

The purpose of this research paper is to identify the current state of the Rooney Rule and determine its effectiveness. Problem Statement: In the problem That’s Entertainment we had to find out how the magician did his magic trick using math. The trick was as followed: you will shuffle the card then pull the first one off the top of the deck. For example, if the card is a 3 you’ll place it down then you’ll count up to 12 starting at 3. So if you pull of a 5 you’ll start counting at 5. If you pull out a face card, king, queen, and jack, you place it back into the deck. Once you get to the point where if you pull out a card and are unable to make another pill then you put those cards off to the side. Once you have done this, you will flip the decks, face down, then flip over the top card and add them up. You have to use the information
In the evenings, while the men played cards, she would sometimes fall into elastic silences, her eyes fixed on the dark, her arms folded, her foot tapping out a coded message against the floor. When Fossie asked about it one evening, Mary Anne looked at him for a long moment and then shrugged. “It’s nothing,” she said. “Really nothing. To tell the truth, I’ve never been happier in my whole life. Never. (95)
“We brought you here because Anna is studying you in class, and needs to ask you some questions .” Paisley said with a smile. “

He stated “He didn’t see size, race, intelligence, sex, religion, or the hundred other things… All he saw was the person” (Shepard). He spoke these words to show that Matthew did not deserve this, and also to prove that his death was a hate crime due to his beliefs and outgoing characteristics. However, he states “good is coming out of evil. People have said ‘Enough is enough.’ You made the world realize that a person’s lifestyle is not a reason for discrimination, intolerance, persecution, and violence” (Shepard). All he wants is to see his son dream come true, that everyone is equal no matter of race, sex, religion, etc. Not only does he want to fight for equality, but also against hate and discrimination against others; while also showing how one's death can affect a family in such a devastating manner. He presents these subjects in rhetorical questions, for example, he says “[How is it an] Impact on my life?” (Shepard) many times to show how messed up his family has become due to this horrific
Starbucks value statement says, "Creating a culture of warmth and belonging, where everyone is welcome" (Starbucks). In November of 2015, Starbucks, the popular coffeehouse chain, released their Holiday-themed cups. Shockingly, they were plain red, a simple cup. These cups were an extreme difference when compared to years past, where they featured vintage ornaments or hand-drawn reindeer. To say the least, the conservative community was outraged at these red cups, which were seen as politically correct or offensive. These two articles: "Starbucks 'removed Christmas from their cups because they hate Jesus, ' Christian says in viral Facebook video," written by Justin Wm. Moyer; and "Satire: Red Cup Controversy" written by Jessica Machado, justify the claim that the conservatives were outraged at the values these cups illustrated. To capture the controversy, Machado and Moyer use similar sources and appeals to value, but deal differently with opposition and appeals to logic. When creating this argument, satire is a more effective rhetorical strategy than straightforward rhetoric because it has the power to exaggerate the situation and produce richer appeals to value and logic.
She didn't know what to do the first thing that came to mind was that she was going to be homeless. Sarah knew she had to do something about the situation but she didn’t know what to do. She couldn’t get a job because she wasn’t old enough. She called some family friends and asked them if they needed a babysitter they could call her.
