CHAPTER 3 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY Chapter 3 discuss about the introductory overview of research methodology. It includes the research design, sampling and location, variable measurement, data collection and data analysis method. 3.1 Research Design For this research, we are using descriptive research and quantitative research. Descriptive research is a survey which objective is to produce an accurate representation of person, event or solution (Saunders, Lewis & Thornhill, 2009). Descriptive is useful in segmenting and targeting the market (Bajpai, 2011). Descriptive research provides the researchers an opportunity to use quantitative data in order to find the data and characteristic about the population or phenomenon that is being studied (Bajpai, 2011). Quantitative research can be defined as research that access causal relationship between variable (Saunders et al., 2009). 3.2 Research Sampling Sampling is useful for the purpose of collect valuable and useful information from population (Bajpai, 2011). Sampling is important and useful because it is less time consuming and less expensive (Bajpai, 2011). In addition, the outcome of sampling is more reliable compare with census because error can be easy to control (Bajpai, 2011). The first stage in sampling process is target population. The target population for this survey is undergraduate accounting student in UCSI University (South Wing) in Kuala Lumpur campus because UCSI students
This article analyzed the positive experiences of twelve individuals who had visible differences (Egan et al 2011, p. 739). This study discovered four main elements that helped people to interpret their related experiences in a positive way. Generally, it can be seen that the authors applied interpretive social science (Neuman 2006, p. 87) to produce this study to capture participants’ experiences and feelings. There are some advantages that can be yielded by utilizing this perspective. Firstly, the authors were able to understand individuals’ different social lives. The complex social factors can be extracted to interpret participants’ feelings and emotions from their personal experiences. It was
The categories used to organize research were the questioning, data design, data collection, and data analyzing method. These methods all oblige one another to help express and develop the knowledge of this analysis. The question method is used towards the content o f research and whether or not the purpose of the research is clear. The data design and data collection methods assist with the structure and information process of the research. The previous two methods guide the data analysis method which breaks down the exploration of the research for this paper. These established methods serves as a n effective advantage in forming research no matter the case, argument, or
This chapter discusses the methods used in the study. It consists of research design, data and data source, data collection and data analysis.
This section focuses on the technics adopted and used for this study with the aim of achieving the research objectives. Descriptive research design adopted in this study. Cooper (2003) observed that descriptive studies are structured with clearly stated questions to be investigated. The descriptive design was selected in this study because it would allow the research to gather numerical and descriptive data to assess the relationship between the variables.

It has been stated by Van Manen (1990) that the methodology is the framework of any research, It is suggested that the methodology is the theory behind the method and the methodology aids the researcher in deciding upon a research method.
The scientific method is an organized way of figuring something out and normally includes six parts (Galgas, 2014). The first step is to state my purpose. For example, for this assignment, my purpose would be to examine the psychological factors affecting how teenagers in an impoverished urban area spend their time outside of school. Second is my research. For my assignment, I would find out as much information on the area as possible. For example, I would talk to teachers to see what kind of after school programs are available and I would talk to the community to find out what kind of community programs are
Research methodology is a way how the research is conducted step by step and in order. There are two methods used for data collection which is the primary data and secondary data. These data can be obtained and used many ways. The data is taken and analyzed in advance to produce a result that we can use for research and future reference. This study will relate to the objective we want to achieve and finding the answer to every objective we seek. In order to successfully achieve the objectives we seek, we must know
To gain my secondary information I used such sources as the Internet, books and midwifery journals. My secondary information will consist of the benefits of breast-feeding for the mother and baby, the benefits of bottle-feeding for the mother and baby as well as statistics on breast-feeding. All information that I have gained for my secondary data is all reliable, because it has come from recommended sites, books and journals that have been approved from the Government or from hospitals and doctors themselves.
In any type of research, counting things or talking with people are required. Consequently, it is beneficial to think of different opportunities for data gathering in any study, as well as to form these methods by their degree of predetermined nature, their utilize of closed-ended versus open-ended questioning, and their focus for numeric versus non-numeric data analysis (Creswell, 2003). There are three major elements that goes into a research approach is the specific methods of data collection and analysis as shown in the following table:
The methodology uses descriptive research design. Data is collected from secondary sources. Secondary data provides necessary theoretical back up to the study which is collected from published or unpublished sources. On the other hand for the exploration of concepts , various books and case studies were referred .
Methodology refers to a system of methods used in a particular area of study or activity. It is not a formula but a set of practices which can be used to conduct a research approach, research method, questionnaire design, sample size, primary research, secondary data, and others. For the purpose of doing methodology and explain about the research flow and also the lastly most important things which is to showed the capability of the research flows.
This section is mainly about the study of the method that will be used to examine the research problem. Method acts as a tool or instrument for measuring variable stated in the objectives or the way of the study being conducted. Once researcher have chosen the scientific method as the means of inquiry, researcher must make some decisions about how researcher are going to gather all information (Kenneth & Bruce, 2005). There are two types of research method can be used to collect data either quantitative method or qualitative method.
Methodology is a way to systematically solve the research problems. It explains the various steps that are generally adopted by a researcher in studying the research problem with logic behind them.
The study for this thesis will be exploratory research using secondary data collected by the communication agency, MESH Planning. The agency developed an innovative approach called ‘real-time experience tracking’, which involves three stages of data collection. And both qualitative and quantitative data will be collected and used in this context in order to get an insight of critical incidents.
