The chapter explains everything ranging from how to come up with ideas for your speech to how to deliver it effectively. Having read this chapter before I proceeded on doing my Speed Introduction Speech, helped me tremendously on what messages I should be communicating in my speech, which is the part that I have struggled the most in all of my writing and speech assignments. Furthermore, the book tell us that a specific speech statement is important because it will help us narrow down to the essential topics that need to be in the speech. This paper will discuss small teams on a reality show called “There goes the Neighborhood”. This show is about a neighborhood that allows a brick wall to gate them in and they must learn to work together, not only as a family, but as neighbors too. In the beginning of the game, everything is taken away from them. For example, all of the luxuries such as appliances, televisions, snacks, video games, and children’s toys were all removed. There was no need for their cars since there was a huge wall around the neighborhood. These teams not only had to learn to become a team, but it would also teach them to appreciate everything that they have. The game encourages team work,

Everyone has the ability to speak. There are all different ways to communicate whether someone is texting, deaf (sign language), or actually speaking. According to ‘a world of communication’, “We are normal people. We can do everything, but sometimes just in a different way.” People are noticed, no matter the communication stages.
While learning different techniques to publicly present information, we also learned the importance of evaluating your own speaking performance. A proper evaluation can help increase your speaker-audience connection. A strong audience connection can enhance the power of a speech and is why we have chosen to do our speeches extemporaneously in this class as it has the most impact in given situations. Personally I am not comfortable with public speaking so this class has challenged and helped me grow as a person. We have given a total of three speeches so far in this class so I will be evaluating the introductory, informative, and persuasive speeches.
Communication is a very important feature for groups. It helps members understand each other and explain themselves. Our group was strong in the communication field because we understood each other and gave every individual time to contribute ideas. The metaphor that we used was a brilliant collaboration by all four of us. One member insisted on using a rollercoaster as an example, it helped us get a totally different perspective on our topic. The members were of different countries and spoke different languages; however, they tried their best to express their opinions and experiences. The topic that my group chose was "Life in the United States", this topic was quite easy for us to talk about. Since all of us are international students,

Politics and the media have long been intimately involved with each other, with media strongly setting an agenda in which politics is very important. (Harris 1999,p.186) It is not known which influences more but there are definitely two sides to the story. Many studies have been done to decide but each comes out with different answers. Many say that the media has more of an impact on politics than does politics on the media. "The two have always been natural adversaries." Public order is one example of an area that both the United Kingdom and the United States law enforcement encounter in their career. For example, after the June 14, 2017 Grenfell Tower fire in west London, there have been angry protests the government due to the negligence of the renovation of the 24-story residential tower (“London fire”, 2017). Since the fire, Kensington and Chelsea Town Hall have been packed with citizens pushing for more help for the victims that have been displaced. These protests require law enforcement presence to make sure tensions do not escalate.
In the American business realm there are many different ways people see fit to run a business and communicate within their organizations. Some different theories in communication is the cultural approach to organizations, the communicative constitution of organizations, and the critical theory of communications in organizations. The cultural approach looks for shared meanings and stories that are unique to that given organization. Communication has become one of the most powerful management tools at all levels. To communicate effectively, it is essential to know how to speak in public and convey a message with quality content and make a good presentation and an exhibition to capture the public's attention. It is observed in the first video that the presenter failed to wear an appropriate attire to deliver the speech, he had his shirt wide opened, showing a little respect for the people attending his speech, differencing from the second video where the speaker was properly dressed. The verbal communication also failed at the beginning and through the whole presentation of the first example, he wrongly begins with an “ok” denoting in advance the lack of commitment and practice on how to begin a presentation, also hesitating when mentioning some words related to the chili peppers speech reinforcing the theory that he did not prepared to deliver the speech, pronunciation and articulation of the words is something that can make a difference. The opposite situation occurs in the second video, where the presenter catches the attention of the listeners since the beginning starting with a strong and attracting introduction, and through the rest of the presentation he shows solid communication skills, with fluent vocabulary and almost perfect diction.
is defined as a method of communication, either spoken or written, that consist of the use of words to convey a meaning. Although this is how language is defined, language is more than just words spoken and written. It is its own art that can be expressed however you choose. To me the most important things that language does is it allows anyone and everyone to communicate and connect with each other and it allows anyone everyone to make themselves heard.
