1. In a college paper the audience is almost always the professor. Knowing this the author would keep his paper very formal by using proper grammar, and appropriate word choice.and would make sure to add literary devices that the professor looks for. For example, if the professor enjoys imagery, then the student would try to fill his/her paper with that literary device. In certain situations the student may have to read their writing in front of the class. When the audience involves the classroom, one should try to structure his/her paper in a way that would not generalize broad topics, because a classroom scene isn't whole there are many cultural backgrounds to take in consideration. A way to avoid generalization is to not give a single perspective on vast topics. For example, if one is talking about Trump, they should write about a liberal's perspective, as well as a conservative's perspective.

Select the theory type that appeals to you most. Consider a case you might encounter in social work practice for which that theory type might apply. Finally, think about why it might be the best one for that case

This paper is based off of a peer reviewed research article. The construct being assessed is the self-esteem of adolescents. One who has high self-esteem will feel confident and will see themselves as deserving the respect of others. High self-esteem enables the individual to be happy, have lots of energy, stay focused, and to be successful. Low self-esteem can be caused by self-doubt, self-criticism, social isolation, suppressed anger, and shame. Understanding how and why individuals change their mind can give humans a big advantage at perceiving information on a complex level. Big History gives us different answers to various questions and they want us to find the correct answer. We can find the right answer by using the four claim testers: authority, logic, evidence, and intuition. Individuals change their mind from time to time based on the new information that becomes available to them at different times and therefore they start questioning the validity of the existing theories and find new answers to the original questions.

Critical thinking and good scientific investigation is important in both medicine and psychology because people need to really think and research if the medicine they are taking or the therapy program they are doing, actually helps them. Sometimes there are other sources that help, but many of us give credit to the wrong source. Many people just notice that a therapy or medication worked for someone and think that it works for everyone but it doesn’t. For example there some commercials that try to sell pills to lose weight, and they use testimonials. The people on those testimonials may have actually lost weight because they exercise while taking those pills. At the end they end up thinking that the pills actually worked, when in reality exercise

In order to test if vitamins cause crime, I will conduct the double-blind research study by randomly sorting my psychology class into two groups. One group will randomly take vitamin pills and the other will get placebo pills. A placebo has no effect and is a control in most experiments. The experimental group will be the ones taking the vitamin pills while the control group will have the placebo effect. With this random assignment, the researcher and the participants would not know who is in the experimental or control group. After groups are randomly chosen, research on the crime each group commits is conducted.This way, the results for vitamins causing crimes is either proven right or wrong.

Participants were recruited through flyers posted on campus. Fifty-one undergraduate and graduate students from the University of Rochester took part in the experiment. To control for potential gender differences, we tried to recruit an equal number of individuals of each gender. Every individual from each gender group was randomized to every experimental group.

Legendary scientist Albert Einstein once said, “we cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” This quote alludes to the reality that we must change our thought processes and think critically to solve problems. Critical thinking is important in different facets of life. One facet of life in which critical thinking can guide success is our career. Specifically, in the field of Psychology, many careers revolve around research. In order to be a successful researcher, you must have critical thinking skills. Critical think allows for deeper development of hypotheses, better evaluation of evidence,and an ability to generate new ideas.

It is through critical thinking that one is able to excel however, in order to achieve a plan must be in place. By reflecting on the day’s activities, one is able to calculate and weigh options that were present thus coming up with the best and efficient way of handling the task at hand.

While, knowing your learning style and the significance of it, critical thinking is just as imperative to a student when making effective decisions. It permits us to think creatively, enabling us to be more successful not only in school but all aspects of life. It allows us to reason things out, remain open-minded, identify any bias or prejudices, to make a more confident decision or new idea. Ellis, 2015, p. 204. Benjamin Bloom describes this process as a ladder for achieving maximum results. We call it the Bloom’s Taxonomy.

After reviewing the critical thinking question, I do think that the student did jump at the job opportunity based on her emotions. In the question it states that she had an admiration for this employer and said yes, before looking into other possible job opportunities. To me, she let her emotions guide her when making the decision to take the job as oppose to finding other job opportunities. I think that most people are swayed by their emotions or gut feelings they have about making a life changing decision. I also think her decision had to with her just being fresh out of college because it could be that she does not have a lot of job experience. Also, this was the first job offered to her and she did not have to put effort into looking for

I think the reason that I decided to take this course this semester was the fact that I have always been a fan of mystery, thoughts, and analyzation. I must confess though that when I signed up for this course I had no idea that it would have a lot of writing involved. I have always been more of a fan of numbers and Science then I am of structuralizing sentences. So when I glanced over the course I started despairing a little. I was thinking that it was going to be more like those critical thinking handbooks you buy at dollar stores or at other random little places where you read a story of a situation and figure out who the killer was or what you are supposed to do to

A well thought out critique of one’s actions or thinking is immensely valuable. While hearing this constructive criticism may be uncomfortable, the information one gains from another’s insights is advantageous. When my colleague and I were discussing our self-assessments two points of importance came to light. First, the thirst for knowledge and never being satisfied with the amount of material I have learned is a strength of mine and a path in which I will continue to travel down. Secondly, issues in my thinking process in which I thought were minor, became major areas of concern. In psychology lesson 3 has many interesting filled topics one of them being absolute threshold. The definition of absolute threshold is the weakest amount of a given stimulus that a person can detect half of the time. This is extremely interesting because it shows the capabilities of human beings and our senses tested to the max. The picture in lesson 3.2 shows all the five senses and the absolute threshold of a human. The most interesting representation is sight due humans being able to see a candle flames 30 miles away on a night in idle conditions. The second most intrigued sense would be smell due to humans being able to smell one drop of perfume in a three room house. The third most fascinating example is taste due to humans being able to taste one teaspoon in two gallons of sugars. This is important information to know as a result of letting people know the limits of our senses and that us humans aren’t using our senses to our best potential.

Today, Alzheimer Disease (AD) has become a part of almost every household and it is likely that ineffective communication pattern plays a role in the primary caregiver and immediate family inability to get a handle on it. Communication patterns between family members may lead to the success of getting a handle on caring for someone with AD or its detriment, depending on the level of effectiveness. The effectiveness of a communication pattern is likely connected to the overall declination of caregivers’ depression and is worthy to be studied to decrease depression.
