Timber is commonly harvested from plantation and processed until usable for construction. This process has a large impact on the environment and as I will be using timber to make my computer table I will be researching the impact that the timber I’m using has on the environment. The type of timber I will be using is called Pinus Radiata. Pinus Radiata is a type of Hardwood, the school sources the timber from local timber stores and their supplies would most likely come from New South Whales or timber plantations near Mt Gambier. These plantations cut down large areas to plant the trees to be used for the timber. As the demand for construction timber grows by 1.4% per year, these plantations need to produce more timber to supply the demand,
The human activity that is used in lumber and timber harvesting is forestry. Humans that work in the forest industry area do lumber/timber harvesting to give other humans their basic needs, wants and values. (ex-wood, paper etc).
In Maxine Kumin’s “Woodchucks,” the speaker’s attitude dynamically shifts from thinking his actions are right, to realizing they are wrong, then convincing himself he is right. He does this using elements of allusion, imagery, diction, and figurative language.
The affect of environmental issues occur everyday and in particular deforestation is becoming a highly ranked subject. From animals to the human race, the alacrity of trees that are cut down affects every individual in a variety of ways. Not only do people need to help the planet but they need to help themselves and further generations to come, such as children and grandchildren because these natural resources that are being taken away from society are as well shaping the future. For comprehensible reasons, forests use to make up the world, until man made creatures started to destroy and destruct the most important supply to human kind which are trees. Trees are crucial to every living entity for the reason of providing oxygen to all.

“Timber!” yelled a worker as he cut down yet another tree. Everyday hundreds of workers went into the woods and cut down hundreds of trees before shipping them off to sorting yards and mills. Some of the first explorers and fur traders to come to the Pacific Northwest had noticed the extremely large amounts of timber found in the region, and the lumber industry launched when the California Gold Rush created a demand for Northwest wood products. Soon after that, eight out of every ten dollars invested in manufacturing Washington’s territory went to the timber industry between 1860 and 1880. As a result of railroads, increases in mining, and a need for jobs, the lumber industry became very important to the Pacific Northwest.
By planning to open 200 more stores in the near future, IKEA Group will strain their current sustainability practices and wood sourcing standards. According to IKEA Group’s Chief Sustainability Officer, “Worldwide economic activity, if left unchecked, is already on track to consuming 150% of planet earth’s resources” (Rangan, 2017, pg.1) The amount of lumber IKEA will need to procure is rising, but the amount available that fits their standards isn’t rising at the same rate. IKEA’s push to double sales and open the 200 stores will need to be met by a push to create or procure lumber that fit their standard. The options before IKEA are the following: to drive higher procurement targets and standards, to use more recycled wood, to own more forests,
The history of Timber in Texas begins in the 1800’s. According to Maxwell (2010), there was evidence of sash mills being used before the Texas Revolution to produce lumber. The use of the first steam sawmill in Texas was supposed to be released by John Richardson Harris in 1829, but he unfortunately died before he could come out with this project. His brothers carried out his will and created the sawmill, which led to more than 200 sawmills operating along the Gulf Coast.
In the U.S. city of Palatka, Florida is a paper mill that affects the environment of the nearby cities. Georgia Pacific has a huge impact on the soil quality due to their extensive process of deforestation, in order to produce tissue and other paper products. An annual report from the environmental management team of Georgia Pacific will show how Georgia Pacific (GP) manages the land. Due to the consistent deforestation, it could possibly strip the soil of its nutrients, which would be tested through the pH, phosphorous, potash, and nitrogen level of an affected area and the area of deforestation. In order for the pine trees to thrive, the trees that
Christopher Ingraham stated, “Topping the overall list is Ashe County, North Carolina, which produces just shy of 2 million trees per year … But the latest numbers show that Ashe County is now, in fact, the largest producer of trees anywhere in the U.S.” (1). Tourism greatly increased the supply and demand of Fraser fir Christmas trees in Ashe County. Many tourists across the east coast come to visit the top producers “choose and cut” farms, where they can select any tree for a reasonable price and be assured it is the freshest quality tree for their money. Tourists are assets to provide funding for maintaining several Christmas tree farms for next year’s season. Ashe County has become a settlement for new
I would like to say that Timberlands are the best and most iconic shoes. People usually get nike or other shoes, but I still believe that timberlands is the best shoe out there. Timberlands are also great for indoor and outdoor use.

Timber has been extensively used over the past century for many residential constructions, furnishings, frames, floorings and facades. It’s been a strong component in architectural developments and with such use, it’s recognized in the availability, renewability, environmental friendly, strength, weight, price, and durability.1 Within Australia, 90 percent of their housing frames are made from timber due to its sustainability and energy required to produce it.
To begin, forest based industrialization is based on forest resources that are used to stimulate economic growth and development. One of the products that have been most important to human economies has always been wood. Wood is durable, light weight, easily worked, waterproof, and a good fiber source. Wood is used in almost every aspect of our lives, for building materials, living, and just surviving. We need wood to build our homes to live in and buildings in which we work and spend the other resource that comes from trees “money”. Studies show that 70% of the products that we use a day are made of some kind of wood. If we were to look around our homes and count all the items that are made of wood we would probably find that 60 percent are made of wood. Without wood humans and other species would never be able to survive.

On the company terrain in Gildehaus (Germany) there are a lot of facilities where the timber can be dried, stored, processed and cut. All the wood is stored under a roof or in a conditioned hall. At the 22,000 square meters company
