My very first Varsity high school football game was the best experience of my life. It was the first week of school and I had practice every day. The practices were heavy we practiced for four hours every day after school. Everyone on the team felt we were being overworked but, that was just the beginning of our season. Our first game was a Friday night all that time practicing made us ready for that night. Two hours before the game we had loud music playing and we were all yelling to get ready for the game. I remember getting on the field and hearing all the fans screaming. Now it was time for kickoff I lined up on the 50-yard line then the whistle was blown, and I sprinted to go tackle the ball carrier. I made lots of hits but also took some
Since they were only going to be involved with the first play of the preseason, they didn’t need much instruction. Rosanna went over the basics of the game, the role the quarterback plays and what the tight end was responsible for. One thing I can say about Rosanna, she is bold.
Victorious we had one more game one more chance to realize our goal make the playoffs. This one game summed up our season going into it our quarterback goes down with a high ankle sprain and can not play, but we were not worried as our backup was a phenomenal athlete we just needed him to play other spots till now. It is friday October tenth we had a home game against the Seymour Thunder who was in the same boat we were in win or go home, they were also carrying on their roster two Wisconsin badger recruits six foot six three hundred and sixty pound Jon Dietzen then do it all lineman at six foot four and three hundred even pounds Gunnar Roberege. The game does not start how we would like right out of the game they score on a long touchdown
Sitting on the cold bleachers, I waited for my sister to appear. Cradling a cup of hot chocolate I tried to warm my hands from the harsh fall winds. Taking a sip of the cocoa, I could feel the warmth of the liquid go down my throat. Then I saw her. My sister ran onto the field surrounded by her teammates. A huge grin on her face as she sprinted to the outfield, softball cradled in her glove, she looks like she belonged. The next year she was no longer apart of that team, yet I was still found on the bleachers. Once again I looked for my sister, warming myself with my hot chocolate. I found her running onto the field, lacrosse net in hand. Alongside of a new group of teammates; she still looked like she belonged. Another year passes, and I was
I believe that most of my professors would look at me and think that I am active, but I think that they would be surprised to know about my football career. Having the chance to play professionally for the Canadian Football League, while taking 19 credit hours, would be something that they would probably be surprised to know about. In terms of traits, I think that they would find it somewhat surprising that I am naturally a shy person. In class, I like to stay active in conversation and participation because we may potentially be graded upon this. Outside of the classroom, I am typically more reserved. I am usually more focused on things that I need to get done in order to succeed, as opposed to joining a group of people for coffee and chatting.
Almost two years ago, while everyone else was fixated on school, I could not believe what I was in the midst of. My soccer team was venturing to state for the first time in school history, boys or girls! Nothing will ever compare to that exhilarating moment. This experience showed me that hard work does pay off, and the friends that I made will last a lifetime. Having the opportunity to stand on the biggest stage in high school soccer was incomprehensibly elating. I will never forget the gripping time I persevered to the state championship.
This was my first college football game I been to and it was a great experience. I heard of tailgating before, but never actually been to one, until Saturday. I went to the tailgate and got to eat free hotdogs and also got a lot of free t-shirts and koozies. At the tailgate they were a lot of people walking around playing games, drinking and dancing, all before the game started. I left the tailgate a little early to go get changed for the game so I missed the parade leading into the stadium. I went back to my dorm and decided to head to the stadium with some friends. My friends took long to get ready so we got arrived a couple of minutes late to the game. We were planning to go walking, but then we saw other people waiting for the bus who were also heading to the game so we waited with them. All the busses said GAME DAY on them and were coming about every five minutes to pick up people. It wasn’t until the fifth bus that we got on because all the buses that were coming were packed like sardines. More
Arriving at the game, I could smell the sweet cut grass as the breeze carried it by. The sky was a light blue, almost faded and filled with puffy grey clouds. I walked onto the track seeing football players warm up and fans start to settle in the stands. It was going to be a good game.
In the beginning of the year I had went to the first football game against Jackson State. I went with a friend who is also goes to UNLV and I distinctly remember that we were excited for our first college football game. The drive there was long because the Sam Boyd stadium is on the other side of town but it turned out to be a nice bonding experience. The amount of reckless drivers trying to cut into our lane once they realized that they should have waited behind the long line of cars was atrocious though. It was no matter, for we were still pumped up for the game. The parking situation was not bad, considering that it is much more of a challenge finding parking at UNLV during the first month of school. The actual game was pretty nice even
There's something about the first week of professional football being back on TV, coinciding with the start of the fall season, that puts a smile on thousands of people's faces. It marks a point where friends, relatives, husbands, and wives can take part in the activity of watching football. One of the best activities associated with watching football during the fall months is to organize a party at your place. This allows for a group of your friends and family to gather around the TV to root on your favorite teams, as well as to help prepare foods for consumption while watching the games. Some of the best foods to prepare or order range from Pizza to Nacho dip and various other finger foods. Overall, a common bond is formed thanks to the joy of being able to hang out with those who
As the sun started to set the lights began to warm up. I was staring out along the gridiron, staring down my opponent for the night. The breeze blowing against my face as my team and I stretch for the upcoming event.
Life was about to get busy for Howard as he was about to start training for high school soccer. He had just finished middle school soccer and was ready to get back in the action. Howard desperately wanted to make the team and he knew that he would have to put in a lot of time and effort to make the high school team. It was the first day of weights and practice for Howard and he joined his friend John who had already been attending both. When Howard arrived at the high school for weights he found his friend John and the weights class started. John had been going to weights for about a month longer than Howard had so this was very tough for Howard but he didn’t quit and give up. With the encouragement of his friend he kept giving it his all until
“Oh I can’t wait for tonight,” I thought. It was Saturday, gameday, LSU was set to play Mississippi State in the first conference football game of the year. I got a call from my good friend Michael and I would go to his house to watch the late night road game. At around 6 that evening I get a call, it was Michael, “How long are you gonna make me wait?”
Sports participation has prepared me for the future by making me stronger physically and mentally. Throughout my many days as a high school athlete I came across many hardships, coaches, losses, wins, and much more. The hardships were very unwanted, but they made me stronger mentally by learning to cope with criticism. I will have to encounter criticism in my everyday life as an adult, and experiencing it early in life makes it easier and less severe for the future. I have had many wins and been a part of countless exciting victories, this gave me happiness and hope for the future. Next, losses and defeat is a hard thing to accept, but I believe it shows me that the forthcoming will have difficulties that I must be able to bear. It has taught
There was two minutes left on the clock. We were up 30 to 27. The other team in bounced the ball. I was guarding number 18. I saw the opportunity to grab the ball from him and try to put this game into the history books. Yes! I grabbed it and ran down court. I was about 20 feet from the basket. Then I felt a hand on the ball. It was number 18. I was so shocked that I dropped the ball. He took it and managed to score. I wasn't to happy.
Have you ever been so jacked for something that couldn’t sleep the night before it happened? That’s what happened to me the night before I played at the varsity tournament at Niagra. But first, let’s go back to the beginning of when this all started.
