My Journey Through English 111

English 1101 is the first of many Humanities courses I will take. It was not only enjoyable but provided a good building block for my future educational route. I learned many new skills and sharpened old ones with Mr. Atkins. With this knowledge I will proofread, correct errors, and display everything as simple as possible. I will use this knowledge as a stepping stone for my next English course and future essays I will

Throughout my educational years, I had only done writings that involves in small research papers, MLA style essays, and summary essays. However, English 101 has given me a new way to look at my writing skills. Most of the writings I have been doing so far in this course were interpretative essays where we interpreted and reflected on other’s writing and then reflecting back to ours own writing. This class also has given me the opportunity to work with my classmates and a chance to discuss about the writing strategy they made in their papers versus the strategy I made in my papers. In addition, I find the in-class activity to be very useful because it allows me to see other’s perspectives and feedbacks. The in-class activities were class discussions, group works, and conference with the instructor. At the end of the semester, the class objective was to pick out two best interpretative essays that we have been working on with a final reflective essay to include in our final portfolio. So for the rest of this essay, I would like to talk about my two best interpretive essays that I have decided to include in my final portfolio: “Death of a Funeral Business”, and “No Time to think” and “Time Ain’t Money”.

English 101 was most certainly a learning experience for me. Of course, everyone says that about their English 101 course in college, but I’m being as honest as humanly possible— if it is, in fact, humanly possible (joke). In all sincerity, I was expecting my English 101 Professor, Dr. Bailey, to find a string of incoherencies in my writing and lack of structure, for I believed my writing was replete with; to the contrary, Dr.Bailey found an unexpected set of errors, and helped me realize why these particular errors were even occurring.

I just started school today I'm taking English 1101. I'm very nervous about writing papers because I haven't written one in about 20 years. I'm very nervous about the grammar that I use as well as plagiarizing. I really hope that if I use one of these essay Checker programs that the plagiarizing tool won't come up on my teachers grading program as if I plagiarized whole paper because I put it in this checker

The information learned in English 111 will have a major impact in my life. This class was created to teach students how to properly write and understand different genres of writing, and to emphasize the importance of writing. As many of us continue our educational paths, it will be critical to understanding the fundamentals of writing, and I am positive this class will be a great steppingstone. This My goal is not to achieve an A in this class, but to achieve success in this subject and leave with information I will use for my benefit.

English 1201 has helped me vastly improve my reading and writing abilities. Before this class, my English classes in high school were always difficult for me because I was not the best reader or writer. However, with the help of Professor Morse, my reading and writing abilities have vastly improved. I have never felt so confident in my reading and writing skills until now. The diagnostic essay at the beginning of the year was very difficult for me to be honest. I did not have the best reading comprehension at the time so analyzing what I read in a book and interpreting it into a paper was difficult for me. However, thanks to the journal entries and the amazing advice given to me by Professor Morse of how to improve my writing, I have ultimately become a better reader and writer. It is because of her help and the help of the journal entries, this class has vastly improved my reading and writing abilities.

Some things I found easy with this class was it was easy to find yourself ranked at the top half. Most of the year students didn't do what was expected. Even when it wasn't a very big expectation. So showing up to class with your essay on time would put you at an advantage than most the class. I was happy to only miss one class the entire

This course was something different for me. It was about slasher films, so I loved it from the beginning. What I wasn’t a big fan of, though, was the focus on communication. I hate being forced to talk or mingle or whatever because I’m bad at it. It’s why I sit in the back of the class two seats away from anyone. It’s just how I am. However, this course forced me to mingle because every single assignment was to be done with a partner. It also didn’t help that the whole reason that course was here was to make us better multimodal communicators. That was nothing new, however, as I had already suffered through English 1101 the previous semester. That being said, I was a terrible oral communicator, but now I am merely bad. It’s a step up. Two steps up in my book.

English 101 was one of my first college courses to take along with college algebra. Throughout the time I have been in this class it has really opened my eyes to what I need to be expecting next semester after I graduate high school and begin OTC as a full-time student. That is if I can manage to pull it all together and pass this class with a C, allowing me to be able to finish my English credits. College is the real deal and cannot be blown off like some high school classes I am taking now as well. I have learned that I am probably the ultimate procrastinator taking into account that I am currently writing this paper at two-thirty in the morning of the day that it is due along with editing all my papers at this time of day. I have also learned that writing is definitely not my thing and never really has been.

Knowing how to write properly is an important part of your education. Once you start your career after college, not a day will go by that you will not use what you learn English 111. A few things that will make you successful in English 111 include working ahead in class, asking for help if you need it, and studying.

Throughout the school year, I have continuously improved my writing skills. With the wise advice from Mr. Michael Parker, I improved to make each paper better than the last. At the beginning of the year, I had a major problem with my organization most of all. I fixed up all my other errors in my works dealing with different aspects in writing. This English 1100 course has exposed me to how a good piece of work should be made. Writing is a process and learning the process has helped me to be the better writer I am today. Writing and English are probably my least favorite subjects, but Mr. Parker made the course fun and understanding. Through the peer review, I was able to see how my classmates thought of my papers and I fully discovered how to analyze my own paper so that I can know what I am doing wrong.

This year taking English 1102 has changed my entire persona on writing. Writing is more than just putting words on paper and turning it in, but to understand what I am writing and what my topic is about. This semester English was one of the toughest time I have had in a writing class. There were a lot of things I could have done better to make this semester easier, but I did learn a lot this semester in 1102 and hope to one day pass on what I have learned.

English 111 will give students the skills they need to write an essay in a formal format. The topics covered will range from how to pick a topic, structuring the essay making it easy to follow, punctuation, grammar and transitional words. There are two ways a student can take English 111; on the campus, or online. To be successful online students must be motivated, adhere to time limits, read all the information about the assignments and take part in the discussion boards.

As for my participation in college, I handled my attendance well. I always came to class on time and I haven’t missed that many days. I would rate myself pretty good when it comes to attendance and coming to class prepared. However, I did not perform well when it

The reason I took English 101 was to learn how to write a paper more effectively and understand the process in order to prep me for college. While I feel as my writing skills have considerably improved, my individual papers still have a lot of room for improvement. Through the many papers assigned, I have gained knowledge about the writing process, and with this brings a lot potential for my future years. The groundwork for a great paper has been laid because of this class, and all that is left to do is to keep practicing.
