Someone once stated,” Tell me the cold truth, but don’t paint me a pretty lie.” As we walk our journey of life, we come to understand that the truth is harsh and yields to no one;moreover, the lie’s hurt increases as it grows. Honesty is important in all situations because eventually the truth shows and people base how they connect you in their life by your honesty or lies.
Honesty without integrity can also lead to moral disasters. Well, honesty may be important but not sufficient for integrity. Integrity is both essential and significant. It is acceptable and one will agree with what Stephen L. Carter says about a person having honesty but not integrity. There are also some white lies present. Sometimes saying the truth or telling everything you know might hurt somebody. Harm may not be the intention but positively the effect.
As the story opens, already the reader is confronted with the topic of concealing the truth. The narrator speaks

Is the story about frustration of revenge or victory over shame? This story could go either way. It could be all about Roger Chillingworth’s revenge and hate towards Arthur Dimmesdale or it also could be about Hester Prynne and Dimmesdale, about how they overcome their fear of shame and take responsibility for their sins. Even though both play a huge roll in this story it is mainly about the victory over the shame of Hester Prynne and Arthur Dimmesdale.

Why you shouldn't lie. I shouldn't lie because it would get me in trouble and lose the trust between my mother and I. If my parents can't trust me at the moment then I should try to make my trust come back and don't go behind their backs. I think when I lie it's to get me out of a situation that can get me into trouble. Lying is a bad habit for me and i'm willing to try and get that fixed. When I lie to my parents it loses more trust and it will take a very long time to make that trust come back. If I lie all the time it's hard to let anyone trust you anymore. I should have a good relationship between my mother and I, but lying to her wouldn't make a good relationship between us. If i'm not honest and avoid the truth then its really bad to
“Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.” This quote, made by John Wooden, accurately describes what parents in our society would want to tell their children from a young age; the age at which a child’s mind can still be influenced. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee is trying to convey that parental discipline and support in a child’s life is crucial to a child’s identity. Atticus, a character in the novel, teaches his children: Scout, the protagonist, and Jem her brother, valuable character traits throughout the novel which aid them with their personality development. The most predominant traits which he establishes
Laurel’s relationship with the Judge proves to be quite different than that of Fay. The Judge’s first wife had Laurel, making Laurel the Judge’s closest blood related relative. Though she truly loves the Judge, Laurel does not get much of a chance to show it due to Fay’s overwhelming presence. Laurel also has more ties to sentimental objects in the house such as the breadboard since those objects belonged to her mother. She eventually learns to feel sad for Fay, who doesn’t have any family in Mount Salus whose immaturity level is too great to know what to do after the Judge’s death. Laurel loves the Judge for himself, not for his wealth or status.

Everybody, at one time or another, has lied. In fact, some people lie almost all the time. Even the young of children lie, especially if they think by doing it they won’t get in trouble for something they did. Sometimes a lie might seem unintentional, or is said to save someone from hurting someone else’s feelings. There are different kinds of lies, and different reason why people choose to lie. In the essay “My dog ate my Homework” (Segal) She explain how there are many different ways people lie in her class from the “death in the family” excuses to the “ totally bizarre excuses”, but the point of her essay was to show the different ways people students lie, and the amount of effort they put into their lies. Also in the essay “The way we lie” (Ericsson) speaks about how she lies just to get through the day more conveniently. Overall everyone lies and everyone has their different reasons why to lie, some lies hurt people and others make some peoples day run more smoothly.
