Humiliation In The Middle School

Growing up in a city like Reading is not easy on any child, especially when you are the minority. This city is composed of 87,893 people, and of these people only twenty nine percent of them are Caucasian. Over half of the people living in our city are Hispanic, making up fifty nine percent of the population. Being part of the twenty nine percent can make a child feel different or left out while they are growing up. Children strive to make friends and to fit in with other kids their age. In my case it was not always the easiest because of a cultural barrier, or even a language barrier. Starting school is a scary for everyone, everyone fears the unknown. But when you enter school into a classroom full of people unlike yourself, is when the nerves really set in.

In middle school, I had a friend who did not have a lot of materialistic things everyone else had, clothes, shoes or jewelry, a fancy cell phone. Sometimes you would see her wearing the same shirts. A lot of people would say she used to steal from friends or clothing stores or from grocery stores, in general, I would have to say this lesson taught me a lot. You never know what someone is going through.

I never forget what I got bullied by classmates for three years in the middle school. The middle school where I went was small and had two classrooms; there were twenty students in each classroom. Thus, most students knew each other and were friendly. I was friendly with them when I was a freshman. However, when I became a sophomore, some classmates started bullying me every time. For example, team members always hit and shouted at me if my soccer team lost in physical education class: “We lost this game because you acted like a moron!”, and kicked me. Imagine you’re in middle school and you give a classmate a note telling them that you like them and then they pass that note around and all of your classmates are laughing at you. Imagine you’re in middle school and you cut your own hair and mess it up and your classmates call you “bangs” from then on. Imagine being a young girl trying to figure out how to use make up and your siblings calling you names like “clown face” because you’re not good at it. Imagine being in high school and someone being mean to you for no reason and that escalating day by day. If you haven’t already figured it out all of these things happened to me. Bullying can have a serious impact through different types of bullying, the effects of bullying, and the ways to prevent bullying.

There was time when I was in a middle school where I did feel a little violated in my personal space. It all a begin when a new transfer student had enter my classroom. I said hello to the new student because I know how it feels to be new at a school environment. However he was a bit to freindly when I had dedcide to say greet my self. The loudspeaker booms across the school. “Have a great winter break, and enjoy the holidays!” I look outside to see soft, glowing snowflakes falling from the sky. Then, the clamor of the school bell travels through everyone's ear. I step outside the classroom door and navigate my way through the labyrinth of middle school students. Research and inquiry are performances that are practiced in many professions; in many cases it is necessary for the development of various places of employment as it may improve numerous aspects of the inner construct. Research has been accredited to many innovative changes that the work force has endured and while it is essential, it may create controversy. It is important to keep in mind all of the components of research so as not to confuse your results with the results of the professional; this may be damaging to the work place as a whole. Research in education has often times been criticized as many educators, administrators and policy makers have behaved hastily in hopes to receive similar results from inquiries others have practiced.

Imagine you are on your way home to your sister’s “Sweet 16” birthday party. You brought her a secret present and are excited to show it to her. You walk into her room thrilled to “pop the surprise” and instead of her being joyfully surprised, you become depressed with sadness that she hung herself from the ceiling fan. Teachers concerned they do not have the skills to teach content in our elementary schools citing self-efficacy issues, as well as knowledge concerns in the high schools (Mark et al., 2012; Peppers, 2015) are a part of the discourse. However, the act of public shaming has evolved along with our technology to deepen the pain on the victim. The impact of humiliation on someone's social, professional lives is that the humiliated person will be an outcast in society, humiliation will ruin their chances of attaining some type of profession and humiliation will distance themselves from the people in their personal lives
