The road to the historic desegregation of Little Rock Central High school began in the 1930’s when the NAACP tasked future Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall with fighting segregation in schools. By 1950 he had helped to strike down segregation in universities in several states. In 1951, the NAACP aided parents of black children attending public schools in Topeka, Kansas in attempting to overturn the state’s segregation laws. After a three year court battle, the 1954 Supreme Court case Brown v. Board of Education Topeka culminated in the abolishment of school segregation laws in 21 states. (Seeds 1)

There are many things the people in Liberty Ranch High School can do to make the school much healthier. I purpose Liberty Ranch should do activities to help us with our eating habits like keeping a food journal, inviting a professional health speaker to help make the school healthier, make food posters or a nutrition class.

On March 16, 2017 in Rockville, Maryland, a 14-year-old ninth grade girl was raped in her high school bathroom by two illegal immigrants aged 17 and 18 also attending the high school. This has shaken the Maryland community and is raising a lot of questions about student’s safety at school and the state’s immigration policies. This is not an incident that should ever have happened and should never happen again in the future.

Little Rock Central High School was one of many segregated schools in America, where only whites were able to attend. In 1957, nine African-American students enrolled for Little Rock Central High, and were expected to integrate the all-white school. Their enrolment was followed by an outburst and the “Little Rock Crisis”. The nine students, known as the “Little Rock Nine”, were refused from entering the school ground by Orval Faubus. This was undeterred from the rule put in place three years earlier, where the U.S Supreme Court stated that “school segregation was unconstitutional.” Arkansas Governor refused to allow the pupils to desegregate Central High, even dispatching the Arkansas National Guard to keep the students from entering the school.

Segregation is the separation of different groups of people based on their ethnicity, or religion, by society. In 1957, nine African Americans students attended Little Rock High School, which was an all-white high school. These African American students wanted to have equal opportunities just as white people did, and decided to do something about it. Desegregation encouraged other people to fight for their rights, and stand up for what they believed in. This event led to the integration of the Little Rock High School. The integration of the schools improved the quality of the education that African Americans were getting. Desegregation of Little Rock High School also had gotten rights enforced by the law, which is the “separate but equal”

Entering into Saint Francis High School can be a bit nerve racking. There will be so many cliques around campus such as the nerds, jocks, and druggies. Not being able to tell which one you may fit into will make high school more intimidating than it really is. How will you know what cliques are a good idea to join? Is it possible to be stuck between two cliques? For any new high schooler, finding the right group of students is all it might take to get you through those four years.

In the early months of 2002, Juneau-Douglas High School in Juneau Alaska, held a school-sponsored and faculty supervised event, held off of school property, to observe the Olympic Torch pass through their area. When television cameras began to turn in the direction of a group of students, they unfurled a banner with the phrase “BONG HiTS [sic] 4 JESUS”. Students at Wilson High School, Governor Mifflin, Twin Valley, and Reading High School on Tuesday the 4th of October were horrified to learn that their schools had been threatened online. The Instagram account “gigglez_is.real” warned students at these schools that three clowns would show up at 12:30 on October the 5th in each school to murder or seriously injure students and teachers.

1889, that’s when the long history of Columbia City High School starts. Columbia City High School is a very old school with very rich history, but it's time to turn over a new stone. Since this dilapidated school has reached a point when it's become of ill repair and there’s nothing more to do. The numerous problems that plague CCHS are constant. The final straw was pulled, the city has decided to build a new high school within the next three years. This is a large project that current high school students won’t be able to participate in but should still try the help as much as possible.

Being a student of Greenbrier High School I have lots of opinions that the school could change for better or worse. Now I know that my opinion doesn’t matter to the school and to the faculty. I want to attend Archbishop Mitty High School because I believe that I can have an excellent education while having fun at the same time. When I went to the Open House at Archbishop Mitty High School, I immediately knew that this was the school for me. At Archbishop Mitty High School, I saw that they have Debate, Student Council, and Volleyball. I am especially passionate about Debate. I also love volleyball because I know can stay active while having fun at the same time. Since Mitty is a catholic school, I can have a spiritual growth along with a good academic education. You are attending a school and the same people that are into athletics getting all the fame. The Athletes are put on a higher pedestal, because everyone recognizes their talent. Deep in the shadows lurks people talented in other activities such as chess, dramatics, singing, video games, and plenty more other non-athletic activities. This is exactly the situation at East Jordan high school. At every pep assembly the athletes are recognized for their talents. Which they have deserved, but other students deserve to have their talents show too. Here at East Jordan high school, we do not have much clubs for people with other types of talents. At school, students have the right to freedom of speech. Some students do not realize that as a student, we cannot say everything that we think we can. At Hazelwood High School, a student had put some articles in their school newspaper that the administrators thought that the articles were not appropriate for a school newspaper. With that in thought, the administrator, which was the school principal, deleted the articles that was not just the two offensive articles but everything on the two pages that were deleted. That in return made many students angry at their principal for taking their freedom which is stated in the First Amendment. However, when this went to the Supreme Court, they agreed with the school, saying that it was part of the school’s curriculum so there for the school can edit and take out anything that they feel is unnecessary.
