Assuredly, our business will be offering some specialty product and service. Our competitive strategy is differential. We are different from other companies because we are specializing in an online service that other companies don’t have. Companies like Pbteen and Dormco are very limited on their service because they only provide a certain amount of diagrams. Our company provides the actual size/diagram of the room in which the students are living in. Additionally, our company’s product/service that we are providing is different from your competitors because no other company offers all college students a kit that provides all the essentials at a special discounted price. Furthermore, our business will act against each of the Michael Porter’s five forces by offering a variety of products and services. …show more content…

the position of market leader in this segment, dominating it by its organization, knowledge of the market and superior business model, focused specifically on online retailing. It is possible, however, that its competitors will invest heavily in the online segment and catch up with the market leader. Furthermore, such trends as slow food and ecological concerns may impact on the company's businesses model. They are particularly strong among the urban, well educated and affluent customers. It is dangerous because they are biggest spenders as well as enthusiastic users of internet and possibilities offered by it. Loosing them may disproportionately hurt company's profits and its market position.
I was once asked, if I thought the decision to reorganize of the state was right. Specially taking about creating the JDOC command structure, I said, “who else is going to do what we are doing?” The job of domestic operations has always been an additional duty, with very little time for planning or preparing for upcoming events. We are a reactive organization and I can see how that can kill us in the end. Our focus in the past 15 years has been on how prepare to go to war, which is our federal mission, and we have forgotten how to take care of our citizens in our own back yard which is our state mission. This reorganization has forced us to look to our left and right, and view the Oregon National Guard a one force both Army and Air. We as an organization are learning each other’s capabilities, strengths, weaknesses, and how we can better support each other in the
Rivalry between companies takes the form of competing for position using different strategies i.e. price and advertising competitions and product positioning. This rivalry increases when companies have an opportunity to improve their position or the competitive pressure increases. Companies are mutually dependent, so the pattern of action and reaction may harm all companies and the industry. TSCO’s main competitors are Rural King, Southern States and Orscheln (Logel;Klein, 2015).
The barriers to enter these industries are quite high. It seems very difficult for potential competitors to implement themselves in these markets because there are already many big companies offering large range of products all over the world and these companies benefit from very strong brand image.
Back in the 1980’s, Michael Porter created the concept of his Five Forces and Competitive Triangle. These five forces are used as a tool to measure the level of competition in an industry, as well as the overall profitability and attractiveness of the industry. The triangle takes into account the importance of product leadership, operational excellence and customer intimacy, which we will discuss later. This year we used Porter’s five forces and competitive triangle to analyze different business models and business ventures within our MGMT 4900 class. Porter’s strategy was one of the three main strategies we focused on when discussing the creation of differentiation, business strategy and competitive industry analysis. Porter’s models are simple and effective in identifying the attractiveness of an industry as well as competitive strategies, which he defines as, “deliberately choosing a different set of activities to deliver a unique mix of value.” Before we dive into the five forces and Porter’s triangle, he tells us to ask three questions when creating a business strategy, what is the business doing now? What is happening in the environment? And, what should the business be doing?
In a landmark article published in the March/April 1979 issue of the Harvard Business Review, Michael Porter identified five competitive forces that determine if you should enter a new market segment.
An information system is a base in today’s business world. Everything is electronic. In various businesses, the survival and ability to succeed strategic business goals is challenging without extensive use of information system. Businesses improve the efficiency of their operations in order to accomplish higher profitablity. Besides that, information systems are important tools available to managers for achieving higher levels of efficiency and productiviy in business operations. For an example, Zara uses the PDA technology to gather customer feedback and input.
In business word wide the use of information technology systems is what keeps a business functioning properly. Every business holds a substantial amount of information that they must learn to sort, utilize and store efficiently. Everything a business does in their day to day operations requires the use of both information and technology. Payments, employee information, records, client information, all of this must be processed, stored, organized and analyzed for later use in the business. For example, at the end of a year businesses will need to pull old records and reports so that they can make predictions for future profit and pay their taxes to
Information systems are used to save valuable time and money by eliminating the bulk of manual labor. These will also provide many options from communicating with both the employees and the customers to the elimination of many tedious inaccurate processes.
Porter's Five Forces allowed us to analyse the influences on the industry in which Tesco operates. It highlights where Tesco has developed a competitive edge over its rivals.
We are unique in a lot of ways, there is no other like us. Other interior dorm design businesses are all online or in an app. So our market structure is considered to be a monolithic competition. Which is a type of market structure in which many other businesses sell products that are similar to us but not identical. There are no dorm design businesses that will knock on your dorm nor move furniture themselves. My business is an intangible service. In the near future I would like KC Design to be worldwide in every college campus. Which means I would have to have lots of universal employees nationwide. Our availability of substitutes can be those whom wish to design their own rooms themselves or choose not to do business with us KC Design.
Information is an important aspect of every organization. Information technology (IT) is a tool for competitive advantage and it is important for the efficient and effective utilization of resources in an organization. Therefore, keeping information within our IT infrastructure and Information Systems is an important part of ensuring that we achieve the main goals of our investments into the IT systems and processes.
Market penetration is the name given to a growth strategy where the business focuses on selling existing products into existing markets.
towards overall profitability. The Porter’s Five Forces once implemented carefully will result in the industry achieving high standard towards "pure competition".
