Memo- Analysis of Rhetorical Situation
When analyzing the rhetorical situation of the Callahan Auto Parts memo there are six elements of the situation to be discussed: topic, purpose, speaker, audience, context, and culture. The topic of this memo is informing the employees of the upcoming retirement of the CEO/founder. The purpose is to inform the staff kindly about the upcoming change to head off any hesitation from the staff about Tommy Boy taking over and ensure a smooth transition occurs. The speaker is the founder and long-time CEO of the auto parts store. The audience is the staff and employees of the store, after they read the memo the goal is that they feel a little bit more at ease and less hesitant going into the change. They should also know how to handle the change over and what will partake while it occurs. The context of the memo is that me the founder is leaving and someone else is taking over that has less experience. I know before writing the memo the employees are probably going to be hesitant about the change because of Tommy Boy's lack of experience. The culture of the group is that they are a close community that feels comfortable with what is going on now.

The purpose is to inform the clients of Callahan Auto Parts about my upcoming retirement and that my son, Tommy Boy, will be taking over. I also need to ensure them about the change and the good fit my son will be. Lastly I need to have them commit to purchasing brake pads for he next two years, exclusively. The speaker of this letter is me the founder of the company. The audience is the clients of the store, after they read the letter the goal is that they understand the change over should be smooth and that the company will not change. By developing a persuading advertisement, companies are more likely to sell their products. On February 6, 2011, Volkswagen aired a Superbowl commercial for the first time in over ten years. This commercial would be one that awakens the inner child of millions. By employing pathos, ethos, and logos rhetoric techniques, Volkswagen is able to appeal to consumers in order to sell their new car.
Dodge Ram Trucks, a division of the Chrysler Group created in 2009, focused on the public needs with the pickup truck. In a male-dominated truck industry, approximately 11% of pickup trucks in the United States are registered to females. With such a small number of percentage of women truck owners, Ram debuted a television advertisement. In 2015, during the 141st Kentucky Derby to appeal to female buyers. By doing so, they inspired women to break the stereotypes, specifically the male-dominated truck industry. Through its carefully incorporated narration, Ram appeals to the courage of women through aural and visual techniques and utilizes specific examples of females, who overcame obstacles in their profession, to provide further inspiration and create a valuable rhetorical commercial.
Co-founder of think-tank Demos, David Callahan, in his nonfiction book, The Cheating Culture, presents how cheating has become a prevalent influence in American society. Callahan’s purpose is not to shame Americans for breaking the law for a minimal profit, but rather, he intends to eliminate the underlying cause of cheating, which is the increasing gap between the rich and the poor. He adopts a sympathetic tone in order to appeal to similar feelings and experiences in his widespread readers.
Improving undesirable working conditions for women and eliminating child labor was an impassioned issue for female reformers during the time of industrialization in the United States. Florence Kelley, a united states social worker and reformer, opposes the appalling work environment children as young as six would toil through and relays her speech to the National Woman Suffrage Association to propel her audience to demand changes that are necessary to stop countless hours of hard-work the youth struggle to complete. Kelley adopts a fervid tone in order to convince the audience that political action is needed to adjust the laws that allows child labor to continue in many states with her use of pathos and rhetorical questions meant to stir action
Award winning journalist and author, Jon Krakauer, in his book, Into the Wild, analyzes the life of Chris McCandless as well as the events that ensued his death. Krakauer’s purpose is to inform the reader about how and why Chris McCandless decided to embark on a journey into the wilderness of Alaska. He adopts an empathetic tone in order to impart to his readers that Chris McCandless was a very misunderstood young adult.

The Confederacy gained support after shots rang at Ft. Sumter on xxx 1861. Before that event, Arkansas preferred to remain neutral and hoped for a peaceful outcome to the divided country. President Lincoln’s decision to issue a call for troops signified an attempt to use violence to preserve the union, and triggered a vote that would change Arkansas forever. The elected leaders of Arkansas by a margin of 69 to 1 passed a disunion ordinance and chose to stand with the Confederate States to oppose Northern aggression, unfortunately there loyalty went underappreciated as Arkansas’ geographical and political significance went overlooked by confederate leaders and their war strategy. The primary election for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians is to be held Thursday, September 3, 2015. This momentous occasion happens every four years. The elected chief and officials, such as council members, can run for office for as long as they see fit, for there is no term limit. Our past chief, Michell Hicks, was in office three consecutive terms for a total of twelve years. This year Hicks has decided to step down and the new candidates for chief are Patrick Lambert and Gene “Tunney” Crowe. These new candidates must be able to fill the role of a generous and successful leader to those of the Cherokee nation. The platforms of both Lambert and Crowe are used to persuade the public to vote in their favor and are extremely versed in the

In the book Touching Spirit Bear nobody cares for Cole. On page 33 Cole said to Garvey “ “ They don’t care if im dead or alive.”” If Coles parents really cared for him they would want alive. On page 33 Cole also thought to himself. “ He laughed at all the times he was beaten by his drunken father, or been ignored by his drunken mother.” This shows that Coles parents do not care for him because if his parents cared for him then they would have loved him more and not beat him and give him time. And on page 6 Cole thought “ They did not care what happened to him.” This proves that nobody cared for him he was talking about the counselors and Garvey because as Cole said “ They are just passing the buck.” and the people are just doing
The United States, as many believe, is the land of opportunity, however, when looking at individual states, towns, and cities, this popular slogan may seem false to some. Within each state, all schools, such as middle and high schools, may not receive or offer equity. In an effort to revel inequalities within school systems, I will discuss the differences between schools in my town, the apparent lack of public concern about schooling inequality, and what changes could be made in an effort to reduce schooling inequality.
The president, Barack Obama gave a speech at Howard University commencement ceremony. Speaking to the graduating class about the need to keep pushing for change he gave the students at the historically black university advise on how to shape your own future and to always strike for better. The president argues that the U.S and the world is becoming a better place than when he was a collage student. However, there is still work to be done when it comes to employment, achievements, and justice for African Americans. The president also mentions to be confident in your heritage and to aim for greatness. Also that empathy should be extended to all people who are struggling to achieve success or a goal. Arizona prospector Daniel Boone “D.B.” Kyle, with his mule, Ghost, arrives at the trading post where he periodically buys supplies. Added since Daniel’s last visit, “Uncle Sam” enlistment posters and patriotic slogans are pasted on the storefront. A couple old-timers sit on a bench, gossiping about the recent suicide of a young man deemed unfit for service. Tidings of war don’t alarm Daniel, since war seemed eminent for quite some time.
