Across widespread films the use of cinematic techniques can creates a range of moods and tones, especially Tim Burton. Tim Burton has directed films such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, and Edward Scissorhands. Tim Burton's use of cinematic techniques creates a childish, yet dark, style across films.

In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory the use of camera movements can contribute to the making of tone and mood. When Charlie first entered the factory, there was an establishing shot which showed the entire factory, this had an exciting tone. The exciting tone is achieved because when walking into the factory it can be seen that it would be exciting to see that. Without this the setting would not have been established and it would not show the entire factory meaning that the excitement of the audience would not be as high.

In Edward Scissorhands there was a low angle shot on the mansion having a spooky tone. It has this effect because the low angle makes the mansion seem intimidating and scary. Without this the scary and creepy feeling would not be as welly executed.

In Corpse Bride the use of lighting can create various moods and tones. When Emily was coming out of the woods there was a back lighting showing only her silhouette and making her seem intimidating. This affect is achieved because seeing only her silhouette, making her figure seem dark, makes her appear as more intimidating. Without this lighting the affect of intimidation wouldn't be there
