Claire stared in awe at the crystal clear water rushing down. She had been to this land many times, but this was the first time she had ever seen this beautiful waterfall. As Claire stood there watching the water, a giant sky blue dragon soared in front of the waterfall. She looked down at her watch, even though when she was in this world time froze in the regular world. Slowly, she turned to walk back to reality. As she slipped the golden key into the keyhole, the portal opened. Claire walked back into reality and set the beautiful ancient key into her desk drawer. The next morning, before Claire headed off to school, she pulled open the drawer, and screamed at the top of her lungs. How could I have let this happen! What is going to happen to the other world? Who would take it? Who else knows how powerful that key is? As these thoughts rushed through Claire’s head, she tried to calm herself down. She needed to go to school, and continue with her life. There is no way anyone else knows what that key is capable of, no else knows about the portal that the key opens to the other world. As Claire drove to school, she couldn't focus her thoughts, her mind just kept drifting off to thoughts of the key, and the wonderful adventure that she had experienced. …show more content…
She quickly turned around and saw a strange dark figure following her. “Claire?” The man asked as he emerged from the shadows. In the light of the afternoon, Claire could see the person who had followed her, a tall man with bright mysterious green
The wind chime hung from the roof of the abandoned house , it swayed calmly and slowly against the wind , everything seemed peaceful . We - my father and I - sat on the porch of the rundown house that only we knew about . It was dark and I wasn’t the biggest fan of the night , the night is unpredictable but yet so beautiful .
"A plane just crashed right into one of the Twin Towers!" Someone yelled. People were screaming because they were on fire. Others were fleeing for their life, but all I could do was stare in awe at the smoking hole in one of the biggest towers in New York. September 11, 2001, one of the most devastating days for me, and for all of America.
The morning of 9/11 I wasn’t going to go to work because I had an allergy appointment,
September 9th started like any other day, but it didn’t take long before it was the strangest day I’d had in awhile. I came to school at 7 am since it was early in the year, and I still was adjusting to my new classes and new students. The new year was one I was especially looking forward to. I had just won the Teacher of the Year award after only my third year and my students and I all created a bond.
It was a sunny day here in New Jersey, I was getting ready to go see the Twin towers memorial the next day."Julie! Come down here please we need to talk!"said my mother.
Her voice was telling me to stay calm, this is normal, everyone goes through this. But I knew that something was wrong, it stung and I was not supposed to feel anything. Every kid gets a contact in their eye when they turned 11, today was my 11th birthday. I felt them touch my eye, she told me that the contact was in, and my world went dark……
“Don’t look down” the wind whispers tenderly as it blows through my golden trusses. Trifling detailed fragments of snow fall from the skies above, meeting the horizon. They are the calmness in this storm. My storm. The jagged icy glaciers, sharp as a knife, smooth as silk, tower overhead. Every breath I take is a battle, every thought is a war and every step is one closer to the end.
Scarlett awoke to the sound of her alarm and a pounding at the door, "Turn that blasted thing off!" her aunt Beatrice bellowed from the other side. Groggily, Scarlett sat up and groped around her side table for the alarm clock. She shut it off and sat in place for a few seconds to collect her bearings. Scarlett swayed slightly as she stood from the bed and walked slowly towards her door, noting the fact that her aunt was gone, she headed to the bathroom. Doing routine things like; peeing, brushing her teeth, and combing her hair into two pigtails at the sides of her head. She then headed back to her room and dressed for school in her white tank top and red hoodie. Grabbing her ipod, headphones, and school bag she sat down at the front door
The catastrophic day of 9/11 will always be remembered as a day of loss, and a day that made America stronger. I interviewed my mother, Iryna Getman on this horrific day. My mother immigrated here in July of 2001 from Berdyansk, Ukraine. Here is her story.
September 11, 2001 I was in my freshman year at Pasadena High School sitting in my second period classroom. I remember the teacher turning the television on and a silence falling over the room. Watching the news and continuing on the remainder of the week at home it felt as if some terrible movie was being shown. At the time I was still very immature and although I thought what was going on was very saddening I did not realze the magnitute of the event.
True story - my grandmother said this to me when revealing that my mother had an affair with her step father (grandmother's second husband) -"It ain't abuse if you are on top". My mother told everyone the narrative that she was sexually abused by her step father. I asked my grandmother about this horrible thing and was promptly set straight about the reality. My grandmother walked in on her daughter and husband with the daughter on
This flimsy piece of paper is a portal. It is a portal to a girl who left her worries at the shore, on that smooth and cold rock. Who left the marks of her bare feet across the velvety sands. Who embraced the ocean like it was a bed of sapphire, silk sheets. Who let the frigid
Its was June of 2008, and the rain was coming down harder than ever. We were at a wedding reception in Des Moines, Iowa. Why were we even here when there are annoying beeping sounds all over, from the phones. We all started dancing and having fun until… my dad, Michael received a call from a friend. Wide eye stare as he frantically looks around the room. Then he whispers something into my mom, Hillary’s ear and she panicked. My sister, Lauren and I were having the best time dancing and playing around the room when my mom grabs my hand and says…
Suena was walking home and she felt like she was being followed, but she thought it was because of the horror movie she watched the night before. It was about a twenty minute walk for Surena to get home and she often enjoyed but that day she didn’t enjoy it. When she got home there was a note on her fridge from her mother saying she’ll be back in a couple of hours and that there was leftovers in the fridge. She still had that icky feeling that someone was watching her, she kept saying in her head that it was just the horror movie scaring her. Her dog Belle was eating the couch again, when her mom got home she’d be mad. Surena went up stairs to her bedroom and forgot to lock the door that day, when her mother warned her many times before to
Megan was walking home late last night. It was dark, cold, and scary. She was walking along the side of the road when a white van approached her and told to get in. Sadly, she did. They drove and drove for what seemed like forever. When they stopped, Megan saw nothing but open field. The driver made her get out and she walked a few miles up the way. Then, Megan felt herself abruptly pushed into a hole that seemed to come out of nowhere.
